City Schools is taking this issue
seriously and is saddened about the
status of these schools.

City School history that a school has
been at risk of losing its state
accreditation.

VO NAT The three schools in jeopardy are
Forest Park Elementary, Lucy Addison
Middle and Stonewall Jackson Middle.

All three have failed to be
accredited for four years in a row.

Now the Virginia Department of
Education could step in and make
sweeping changes from reconstitution of
the school to changes with leadership.

Dr. Rita Bishop says part of the
problem is that some schools and
students don't have text books.

She says they've worked to
correct that issue by ordering 900
thousand dollars in materials.

So, she plans to ask the state
superintendent for a chance.

Schools says an outbreak at Northside
High School is NOT MRSA.

In the past few days, a total of
nine students developed a skin
irritation.

Doctors tested all 9 and those
results show that it's highly unlikely

the problem is MRSA or a staph
infection.

The school believes the problem
is nothing more than a skin irritation.

The results came back after the
school warned parents of Northside
football players at the beginning of
the week that the problem could be
MRSA.

They stress there is no health
risk to the student body.

from Bath County.

She says she was followed for
more than 45 miles and was assaulted by
a man impersonating a police officer.

The tailing car turned on a
flashing blue light.

A man in a dark uniform made
her get out of the car, made a sexual

charged with hit and run today.

He's accused of stealing a Jeep
and then wrecking it into a biker.

Gregory Jackson of Christiansburg
was killed, and police say Adams took

for starting a Roanoke fire which could
be seen for miles.

According to the fire department
- cars were being lined up to be
crushed when a battery arced, sparking

knock down the fire in about an hour.

Methodist Church and other volunteers
with the Roanoke Interfaith Coalition
were wiping down the studs with bleach,

Insurance didn't cover flood
damage, so McAuley received 73-hundred
dollars for a new roof. Her premiums
doubled, and now she's received notice
of cancellation.

Thursday clouds pushed north from a
dying tropical system. Humberto went
from a tropical depression to a Cat 1
hurricane in a matter of hours. After
landfall, it became a big rain maker
for the Gulf Coast. That system
interacting with a cold front will
produce periods of rain for us through

Battalion leave Monday for training in

is another step closer to being cleaned
up for good.

1989 Kim-Stan landfill will receive 10 :00 million dollars from the federal
government to complete the final stage
of the cleanup process.

Back in the late 1980's hundreds
of thousands of tons of waste from the
northeast part of the country was
dumped at Kim-Stan.

The landfill was shutdown in
1990.

High School's Patrick Day suddenly
became paralyzed from the chest down.

The illness happened off the
