dead-- shot and killed police say by
her former boyfriend- he then turnedt

learned he has also died.

The Bedford County Sheriff
says it was an eleven year old boy who
called 9-1-1 this morning after his
mother had been shot.
Deputies found Sherrie
Connor dead inside the home on
Screechum Hollow Road.
Her former boyfriend, Louis
E. O'Brian was also found inside the
home with a gunshot wound to his head.
He died this afternoon at Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.
Family members say the two
had broken up about two months ago.

are still looking for a man who they
say assaulted a woman in Alleghany
County.

He's a white male in his early
forties.
He's about six feet tall and
weighs between 185 to 200 pounds.

The Maki (mack-ee) family believes
the Salem VA Medical Center did not
properly care for 41 year old William
Maki Junior..and that's what ultimately
lead to his death. This is his picture
when he at West Point.
Their lawyers issued a statement
detailing why the government and
several staff members should be held
responsible.
It all started when Maki came to the
Salem VA in June of last year for
psychiatric care.

According the lawsuit, Maki got into
an argument with another patient...and
that's when a nursing assistant and
some patients held him down on the
ground.

The lawsuit states, one of the
patients restraining Mr. Maki had him
in a headlock, and when Mr. Maki
resisted, the individual would tighten
his grip on the headlock.

As a result, he suffered extreme
distress, agitiation, cardio-respirtory
failure, and loss of consciousness.
The lawsuit goes on to read, that..

In the statement, he says the matter

SAFE environment for care.

reduced to auctioning off his
most-prized
sports collectibles ... to pay some of
his 33-point-5 million dollars he owed
the Brown and Goldman families. They
won the huge award in a wrongful-death
lawsuit.

southern Patrick county area have

A French fry feast was served up in
Grand Forks, North Dakota last night.
Over four thousand pounds of fries were
gobbled up by thousands of hungry
Potato Bowl participants.
The Potato Bowl is a weeklong festival.
Organizers say about four thousand one
hundred pounds of fries were consumed
along with nearly a hundred gallons of
ketchup. The numbers are impressive
but not a record.
Last year four thousand six hundred and
eighty pounds were polished off.

is said to be the world's tallest free-
standing structure.

skyscraper claim the new building will
overtake the C-N Tower in Toronto,
which has held the record for 31 years.

That's the word from officials at the
San Diego Zoo after they determined the
sex of the zoo's newest panda.

The six- week- old cub is the fourth
giant panda to be born at the San Diego
zoo.
The zoo says she's healthy and
developing right on schedule.
She weighs about four pounds and is
nearly 18 inches long.
However, going along with Chinese
tradition, the cub won't get a name
until she's 100 days old.
