GRAPHIC=Northside Infection Some Northside High School parents
are probably breathing a sigh of
relief--
That after tests show the outbreak at
the school is NOT MRSA MURR-suh, a
staph infection.

students developed a skin irritation.
Doctors tested all 9 and those
results show that it's highly unlikely
the problem is MRSA or a staph
infection.
The school believes the problem
is nothing more than a skin irritation.
The results came back after the
school warned parents of Northside
football players at the beginning of
the week that the problem could be
MRSA.
They say there is no health risk
to the student body.

woman out of a dangerous situation.

She says she was followed for more than
45 miles early Wednesday morning,
starting near Lord Botetourt High
School, and by the time it ended north
of Covington, she was assaulted by a
man impersonating a police officer.
The tailing car turned on a flashing
blue light. A man in a dark uniform
made her get out of the car, made a
sexual comment and hit her in the face.
The suspect is a white male in his
early forties, about 6 feet tall,
weighing anywhere between 185 and 200
pounds. He was wearing wire rimmed
glasses. He also had a moustache and a
military style haircut.

will spend a month in jail.

Steven Preston admitted to distributing
steroids and the date-rape drug:
Katamine.
James Turk said Preston "needs to get
a taste of what jail is like" and
sentenced him to serve a 30-day
sentence on work release.
It's part of the Henry County
corruption scandal, and another person
was sentenced for that as well
yesterday.
Ronald Trantham will serve two and a
half years in prison for buying and
selling stolen drugs.

heat has left many pumpkin patches all
dried up.
PW Morgan has taken matters into
his own hands. This summer he's been
taking water from an already drying
pond to to save his 5 acre garden of
gourds in Bedford County.
He says the poor conditions will
mean fewer pumpkins this year. And
those that do survive will be 20 to 30%
smaller than last year.
Morgan's will be open to the
public for picking through
Thanksgiving, but he say's he'll have
fewer to wholesale this year.

charged with hit and run yesterday.
He's accused of stealing a Jeep,
and then wrecking it into a biker.
Gregory Jackson of Christiansburg
was killed, and police say Adams took
off.
