GRAPHIC=State Budget It looks like some state employees
will be out of a job.....
Governor Tim Kaine's office believes
at least a few state layoffs are likely
because of a looming budget shortfall.
Finance Secretary Jody Wagner told
the House Appropriations Committee
there could be even more if the
government doesn't use the rainy day
cash reserves.
The administration estimates
revenues for the current budget will
fall 641 million dollars below
forecasts the state's spending through
June was based on.
In a contentious address to the
Republican-dominated panel, Wagner said
the job cuts could be part of the 5
percent cuts agencies have been ordered
to recommend to Democratic Governor Tim
Kaine.
House Republicans oppose using the
reserves and call the prospect of
layoffs scare tactics.

The ACC released its start times
for games coming up on the final
Saturday of the month earlier this
afternoon.
The Virginia Cavaliers - who have
now won two in a row - will be at home
on that Saturday - September 29th
taking on PIttsburgh. The game with
the Panthers will kickoff at 7pm at
Scott Stadium and it will be televised
by ESPN-U.
The Hokies are home on the 29th
for Homecoming 2007.
Tech will host North Caroilna in
a Noon kickoff from Lane Stadium. The
game is soldout, but you can watch the
Hokies and Heels right here on Your
Hometown Station.
Again - the kickoff on Saturday -
the 29th with the Tarheels is set for
Noon.

Old Dominion Athletic Conference back
on the national football map. After
beating Ferrum and improving to 3 and 0
over the weekend the Eagles are now
ranked 23rd in the nation.
The big reason for the success is
senior quarterback Jeff Highfill.
He's completing almost 70 percent
of his passes, and in the classroom,
the mathematics major has a 3 point 95
grade point average.

after crashing his plane in North
Carolina....you've got to see this....

Not every day a plane crash ends in
no serious injuries or deaths.....
The plane went down near the
Henderson County Airport...
It appeared to be a replica of a
bi-plane with markings from World War
1......The pilot had engine trouble and
landed in the woods...
Emergency crews rushed to the scene
to find the pilot walking around....no
word on if the plane was trying to take
off or land.

Rafael Mirabal is only 11..but he's
preparing for his debut in one of the
most famous bullfighting arenas in
Latin America.
He's already a bit of a veteran.
His father says Rafael started
training to be a Matador when he was
only five.
As you can see, the animal gave the
boy quite a tumble and even trampled
him-- but Rafael walked away just
fine-- and the audience applauded his
bravery.
