60 potential jurors are on standby
today for the capital murder trial of
William Charles Morva.

Morva is the man who escaped police
custody a year ago last month. He's
accused of beating a deputy, stealing
his gun and then killing hospital
security guard Derrick McFarland. While
on the run, police say he also shot and
killed Corporal Eric Sutphin.

As I said, 60 people will be brought in
today and if necessary the court has
another 40 people on standby for
tomorrow. If a jury can be seated this
trial is expected to last at least two
weeks.

a Franklin county home into a tourist
attraction.

finish restoring this home in Glade
Hill this week.

The log cabin been a part of
their family for several decades.

The home was originally built in
the early 1800's.

The owners want it listed as a
historical landmark for Virginia.

Battalion is based in Roanoke.

It was previously activated for

as in saying goodbye to loved to ones.

The experience isn't any easier
however, for the families of marines
who have been deployed in the past.

die from

drug overdoses last year than from
homicides, house fires and
alcohol-related automobile accidents
combined.

According to the state medical
examiner's office, the region had

264 fatal drug overdoses in 2006.

That's up 22 percent from 2005.

Most of the deaths were the
result of prescription drug abuse, a

growing problem in far southwest
Virginia.

The 264 drug overdoses in
western Virginia accounted for 40

percent of the state's total drug
overdose deaths -- even though

the area has just 20 percent of the
population.

so his family could choose a different
way to treat his cancer.

Now a teen from Floyd say's he's
winning another battle.

His name is Abraham Cherrix.

Earlier this year, Governor Kaine
signed a billed named after him called
"Abraham's Law."

It gives teenagers and parents
the right to turn down traditional
medical treatment and explore other
options.

Abraham's story grabbed national
attention when he decided to try a
non-traditional approach. ...

He still sees his doctor in
Mississippi who has worked to build up
Abraham's immune system using
supplements and healthy eating.

After a year of treatments,

Abraham says its paying off.

The cancer has been in remission
since this summer, and his latest
doctor's report shows it still hasn't
come back.

He doesn't think he would have
survived if he had not fought for an
alternative to high doses of
chemotherapy.

manhunt that paralyzed Virginia Tech
when he broke out of custody last
August.

Morva is accused of shooting and
