of mobile home sales business on May
9th.
Mark Hopkinson Jr. and Zachary
Renar Titus were shot and killed during
what authorities say was a drug deal
gone bad.
A third victim ... a woman who
police are not identifying and who is
in protective custody ... was shot in
the arm that day ... and she testified
against Davis at today's hearing.
She says the two victims were
looking to buy drugs and asked her to
set up a deal.
She contacted Davis who arranged
to meet them in the parking lot of
Virginia Carolina Homes in Ringgold.
They were in Davis's car when
Davis and two other men allegedly tried
to rob them.

35- year- old Brian Shannon Mayes of
Mount Airy.
He was airlifted from Carroll
County to Wake Forest University
Baptist Medical Center in North
Carolina.
Late this afternoon, we're told,
he was still in the emergency room.
The others who were involved in
the accident fared much better.

Why a Roanoke hospital is on the move

the accident is still under
investigation... since officers haven't
been able to speak with Mayes yet.
The two vehicles collided
head-on... in a curving section of
Flower Gap Road about a half mile from
St. Paul School...
There were nine people on the
bus, including seven students, a
teacher's aide and the driver. They
were all taken to the hospital as a
precaution, but later released without
suffering any serious injuries.
Carroll County School
Superintendent Greg Smith says his
heart goes out to the families of
everyone involved, and says he is
grateful for the quick response from
the rescue squad and state police.

By Thursday...all in-patient
services will be under one roof.

Over the next three days Carilion
will be busy moving patients and
equipment from Community hospital to
Roanoke Memorial..
In all about 100 patients will be
transported.
For expectant mothers, that means
Community is no longer the place to go.
As of this morning, Carilion no longer
delivers babies at that hospital.
And Thursday will be the last day
for the E-R there...it will be shut
down and re-open Friday as an Urgent
Care Center.
We did get a chance to meet the
first baby born in the new labor and
delivery suite at R-M-H.

EVENT=HEALTHCHECK 7 BANNER say they're taking all the necessary
precautions after a single case of
"MRSA" (MUR-suh) turned up in a local
high school.
MRSA is a type of staph infection
that's also known as a "superbug"
because of its resistance to
antibiotics.
The student is being treated and
is expected to return to school.
Superintendent George Nolley
(NALL-ee) says the school is following
all the recommendations of the health
department to prevent any more cases.
The school also sent a letter home
yesterday to parents explaining the
situation.
