Montgomery County for trial.

1978 Buddy Earl Justus killed a woman
in Ironto along with her unborn child
in October of 1978.
Ida Mae Moses was the first of
three women Justus killed in three
different states. He eventually got
the death penalty in each case.
The Montgomery County case was
tried in Williamsburg, after the court
determined Justus could not get a fair
trial in Christiansburg.
He was executed at the old Spring
Street prison in Richmond in 1990.

It was very popular at one time
because of its resistentance to heat
and corrosion.
The danger comes when abestos fibers

"disturbed" and the fibers are released
into the air.

a good bet tonight with thinner clouds
west of the Roanoke Valley and thicker
stratus clouds east of the Blue Ridge.
An onshore flow from the southeast is
helping to increase low level moisture
across the region. While clouds will
roam overhead Friday (partly sunny)
there could be sprinkles or a light
shower across far southeastern sections
of the NEWS7 viewing area (near South
Boston). Highs are forecast in the
upper 70s Friday. High pressure will

Roanoke this afternoon ended in a crash
in Roanoke County.

City police have released few
details. A spokesperson did say there
was a pursuit that ended when the
suspect's vehicle crashed.
The accident happened near
the Moose Lodge on Route 311- that's in
the Mason Cove area.
The driver was taken to the
hospital but the injuries are not life
threatening.

who was injured yesterday in a single
car accident has died.
State Police have identified the
victim as 16- year- old Robert James
Smith.

Yesterday Smith was riding in the back seat
of the car when the driver lost control
on the Interstate 64 Exit Ramp near
Mallow Mall.
The driver and the front seat
passenger were wearing their seatbelts,
and were not seriously injured.
All students at Covington High
School, the three young men were
heading to K-Mart to sell ads for the
high school yearbook.
The accident remains under
investigation.

One high school, two health concerns,

The Attorney General's
investigation began after a 2005 audit
of the department accused state
officials of waste, cronyism and misuse
of tax money stemming from an African
safari the men took in 2004.
These indictments- unsealed
today- charge them with embezzlement.

Former department director Bill
Woodfin is charged with two counts.
He resigned back in 2005.
Former chief of game wardens
Terry Bradbery is charged with one
count of embezzlement.
He left the department one year
ago.
His assistant, Michael Caison
also left last year and faces two
counts of embezzlement.
Former Board chairman Dan Hoffler
also went on the safari and later
resigned, but eventually paid for the
trip and is NOT facing charges.

Those who are are free on bond
and will be back in court in November
to schedule a trial.
If convicted of the felony- the
men face two to ten years in prison.
Meanwhile, the attorney general
plans to introduce legislation in the
next General Assembly session regarding
state officials' use of tax payer
dollars.
