FFE
GRAPHIC=FFE Good evening everybody and

welcome to the latest installment of
the show we like to call Friday
Football Extra.

Wow, it is already week number
six of the season and already the
number of unbeatens is declining.

In the next half hour or so we'll
check in on a number of teams that
entered tonight undefeated and see if
they were able to maintain perfection.

GRAPHIC=AMHERST/GLASS We begin with the team that been

as close perfect as you can get now for
over a year.

Amherst County hasn't lost a game
since the second week of the season in
2006.

Tonight, Friday Football Extra's
number one team hit the road to battle
E.C. Glass.

CHANNEL=A VO-NAT
VO-NAT

*CG ffeloc Lynchburg

Amherst Co. vs. E.C. Glass The E.C. Glass Hilltoppers were :00 all excited before the start of this
one, but their job would get much
tougher.

In the first - on the first
offensive play of the game for the
Lancers, Peter Rose keeps and carries
the ball downfield. He will break a
few tackles, avoid a few more folks,
and hit the sideline and roll 65 yards
for the score. 7-to-nothing Lancers.

More Amherst - Rose will go to
the pass this time, and he will hookup
with fellow Tech recruit Derek McCoy,
who hauls it and scores from the 7.
It's now 13 to nothing after the missed
PAT.

Amherst again - and this time
it's Rose once again keeping. He will
break loose and just riddle the Glass
defense with his legs. But at the end
of the run his arms let him down as he
fumbles and Glass recovers. The
Toppers could do nothing with the
turnover. *CG ffefinal Amherst Co.

45 In the second, Rose will make E.C. Glass amends for the miscue as he fakes the 0 handoff and takes it on his own.

The Lancers stay unbeaten with
the 45 to nothing win over Glass.

GRAPHIC=SALEM/NORTHSIDE Let's now head over to Northside

where you cannot have a much worse week
than the Vikings have had - a staph
infection virtually locked down the
football program, asbestos shut down
the school two days, and as if those
items weren't enough, the unbeaten
Salem Spartans just happened to be on
the schedule tonight.

CHANNEL=B VO-NAT
VO-NAT

*CG ffeloc Roanoke Co.

Salem vs. Northside Members of the Northside Class of :00 1967 were back on campus tonight for
their 40th reunion and they would get
an eyefull.

Salem would strike first in what
would be a very competitive first half.
Harrison Hudson takes the carry, zip
down the near sideline and dive for the
endzone. The 29 yard TD makes it a
6-to-nothing Salem lead after a
quarter.

In the second - Northside's Brent
Fleming would make one of the big plays

of the game as he intercepts the Nick
Leftwich pass on third down. But
Fleming isn't satisfied with just the
pick. He turns the INT into a PICK 6
as he takes it 66 yards for a touchdown
and just like that it's tied at 6.

Salem would respond as Leftwich
makes up for his mistake in a big way
taking the bootleg around the far end
36 yards carrying it all the way to the
paint and Salem is back on top 13-to-6
in the second. *CG ffefinal Salem

34 Give the Vikings record - they Northside played much better than the final score 13 indicates. Jonathan Anderson gets the
8 yard TD. It's 13-to 13 in the
second, but Salem roll on to win it 34
to 14.

Patrick Henry vs. Cave Spring But last night, Cave Spring :00 welcomed another of the area's new turf
teams - Patrick Henry - to South County
to help christen the new playing
surface.

It's was 14-to-7 Cave at the half
and they kept cranking in the third as
Darryl Keeling plows in from a yard out
and the Knights take a 21-to-7 lead
early in the third.

And there was more from where
that came from as Tyler Caveness takes
the reverse handoff and he will turn on
the after burners and 46 yards later
it's another Cave Spring touchdown and
it's 28-to-7 in the third.

Caveness and company would also
make the plays on defense. This time
he breaks up the Patrtiots' pass
attempt and set the table for the
offense.

*CG ffefinal Patrick Henry

7 Adam Dyer will then take his turn Cave Spring at the endzone as he scores on the 11 35 yard run as the Knights roll out the

35-to-7.

The hall also welcomed one of Friday

Once the game got rolling, Bath
couldn't hang on. John Barden fires a
nice pass in the right flat on the
rollout. Jim King makes the catch,
heads up field, bu he will cough up the
pigskin and the Mounties Justin Guzman
recovers.

Bath would hold and get it back
and this time Adam Persinger will score
on the option play from 10 yards out.
Bath takes a 7-to-nothing lead.

But Alleghany would respond on a
thrid and long from their own 43 as
Ryan Kessinger hooks up with Brandon
Ross, who makes the defender miss, and
he will take it to the house on the 57
yard pitch and catch and we're tied at
7-all.

Kessinger would keep slinging the

Now in the third, Rustburg's

Now in the fourth, Cobbs calls

he will outrun the defense and dive

OQ=Friday Football Extra <<

(END SOT) Wyatte Pickett led the charge

against Glenvar as Rural Retreat picked
up the win. Pickett accounted for 23
of the Indians 31 points as he scored 3
Touchdowns, kicked a 35 yard field goal

and 2 extra points.

These kinds of numbers have
become normal for Pickett.

(BITES:)

Earlier this season Picket broke
the all-time Rural Retreat Rushing
Record in a game against Fort Chiswell

(BITES:)

(STANDUP:Pickett ability to break the
all-time rushing record at Rural
Retreat is do largely in part thanks to
being on good football Teams but also
his longevity on the Indians Varsity
Squad and his ability to stay healthy.)

(BITES:)

Now in his Senior Season, Pickett
has been the focal point of opposing
defenses, which has allowed others on
the team to excel

(BITES:)

There remains just one goal that
Pickett and the rest of his teammates
would like to accomplish

(PICKETT BITE:)
