driver, insure the building was safe,

burning his girlfriend with an iron.
The Sheriff's office says it
happened yesterday after the
17-year-old victim went to her
boyfriend's home in Axton.
The woman is hospitalized
in North Carolina with a broken jaw and
first- and second- degree burns.

weekly Football Awards.

Sophomore Defensive End from Richmond
has been named the A-C-C's Defensive
Lineman of the week thanks to his
performance against Georgia Tech this
past Saturday.
Fitzgerald returned a deflected
pass 25 yards for a Touchdown in the
Cavaliers 28 to 23 win over the Yellow
Jackets.
He also tacked on 5 Tackles and a
sack. The interception is his 4th of
his career at U-V-A.
William Campbell Product Cedric
Peerman did not receive any awards from
the Conference but that doesn't mean he
didn't deserve it. Peerman rushed for
over a hundred yards for the 3rd
straight game and is still the leading
rusher in the Conference.

games this past weekend. That would be

Yellow Jackets. Wide receiver Correy
Earls who was carted of the field late
in the fourth quarter on Saturday was
released from a Charlottesville
Hospital on Sunday and returned to
Atlanta.
Earls, a redshirt freshman, had
feeling in all his extremities and
passed a series of tests, including
X-rays, CT scans and an MRI.
U-V-A Head Coach Al Groh visited
with Earls when he was in the hospital.

against Ohio and William & Mary.
The Hokies are barely averaging a
hundred yards rushing a game as a team,
and four games into the season no one
has a 100 yard game.
Carolina is giving up 150 a game
on the ground - that includes the 186
UVA's Peerman put on them two weeks
ago.
