researchers say it can also be deadly.

Many studies have shown people who
describe themselves as lonely are more
likely to get sick and die young but
the cause has been a mystery.

Researchers once thought that a lack of
assistance and support from family
members and friends was the reason but
new evidence suggests isolation
actually impacts our immune system and
leaves us more vulnerable to illness.

Children should be tested for
cholesterol when they reach about 15
months of age to help stave off
potentially fatal heart disease in
adulthood, a new study suggests.

2 in every thousand people have a
genetic flaw that causes very high
blood levels of low density
lipo-protein that clogs arteries.

By screening children between 1 and 9,
physicians could detect 90-percent of
individuals at risk.

(wipevo)

Global deaths from so-called
"lifestyle" diseases will double by
2015 unless all-out efforts are taken
to combat them, researchers warn.

High on the list are cardiovascular
diseases -- mainly heart disease and
stroke -- cancer, chronic respiratory
diseases, diabetes and obesity.

The vast majority of cases are caused
by a small number of known and
preventable risk factors. Three of the
most important are unhealthy diet,
physical inactivity and tobacco use.

The forecast remains simple the next COMM few days as high pressure filters into
the area. A large ridge of warmth will

keep the eastern United States above

Our next opportunity to get some much
needed rain won't arrive until late
Wednesday. Dry times continue. Have a
great week!

As leaves begin to fall the next few
weeks our wildfire threat will
increase, especially if we don't get
rain. As low level fuels dry, be
