dogfighting charges....this time around
he could be doing it in Surry County...

Associated Press he plans to present "a
host of bills of indictment." regarding
the case to a grand jury today.
This comes a month after Michael
Vick pleaded guilty to federal dog
fighting charges.
In court documents, Vick admitted
helping kill six to eight pit bulls,
and bank rolling Bad Newz Kennels' bets
on dog fights.
He is scheduled to be in federal
court on December 10th...where he'll be
sentenced on those charges.

arranged marriage of a 14-year-old girl

Prosecutors say Jeffs used his
authority as the girl's spiritual
leader to force marriage and sex on
her.

Authorities say the driver was on

The vehicle hit the guardrail,

Thomas, of Floyd, was taken to Carilion
Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was
listed in Fair Condition.

family member.

complex in honor of Clarence Beard Jr.

arrested by Lynchburg police.

gas created when fuels do not burn
completely.
Without a detector in the home,
too often people become sick before
they realize they are being poisoned
and in some cases the carbon monoxide
has caused death.

a gas water heater malfunctioned and

apartment.

kennel on 61 acres he owns in the White
Gate community.

following a single-vehicle accident in
Carroll County last night.
It happened at around 10:00 on
Piper's Gap Road.
State Police say a vehicle driven
by Christopher Franklin Liddle of Galax
ran off the road and hit two parked
cars and a house.
He died at the scene.

GRAPHIC=none A driver landed in the hospital
Monday, after his car crashed into a
Roanoke house.
The accident happened around 9:20
AM, just west of Towers Mall where
Wonju Street meets Colonial Avenue.
Authorities say the driver
experienced a medical problem, before
the car hit a guard rail, travelled
through the intersection and struck the
house.
Joe Dashiell reports on what
happened next.

Roanoke firefighters, police and
rescue personnel were at the home in
minutes... scrambling to help the
driver, insure the building was safe,
and search for anyone else who might
have been injured...
It took them about thirty minutes
to get the driver out of the car, onto
a stretcher, and on his way to the
hospital.

thankful, a crew that was planning to
work on the drywall, hadn't arrived
when the car came crashing through the

during a training mission on Guam,
killing one of the crew members.
Three others were hurt, but not
seriously.
The helicopter squadron on Guam is
the Navy's only one of its
type.

dogs may be moving his controversial
business to Giles County.

Junior has asked administrators in
Giles County to let him build a new
kennel on 61 acres he owns in the White
Gate community.
He told administrators he wants
to move so his family can be closer to
the Amish community in Giles County.
This past March, one of
Schmucker's Dogwood Kennels burned.
He lost nearly 200 dogs in the
fire.
More than 4-thousand people
signed an online petition against the
business.
Giles County Administrators said
they have received letters of concern
from nearby land owners.

dogfighting charges....this time around
he could be doing it in Surry County...

Associated Press he plans to present "a
host of bills of indictment." regarding
the case to a grand jury today.
This comes a month after Michael
Vick pleaded guilty to federal dog
fighting charges.
In court documents, Vick admitted
helping kill six to eight pit bulls and
bank rolling Bad Newz Kennels' bets on
dog fights.
He is scheduled to be in federal
court on December 10th...where he'll be
sentenced on those charges.

deliberations this morning.

they're close to a verdict, but are
deadlocked on one count.
Jeffs is accused of rape in the
arranged marriage of a 14-year-old girl
to her 19- year- old cousin.
He's president of the Fundamentalist
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints.
Prosecutors say Jeffs used his
authority as the girl's spiritual
leader to force marriage and sex on
her.

crashing his sport utility vehicle into
a Roanoke home.

It happened shortly after nine.
Authorities say the S-U- V was on Wonju
Street, travelling toward Colonial
Avenue when the driver had a medical
problem.
The vehicle hit the guard rail,
went through the intersection and
struck the house.
Emergency Crews shored up the
structure, tended to the driver, and
searched the house to make sure no one
else was inside. 71- year- old Rodney
Clark Thomas, of Floyd was listed in
Fair Condition yesterday.

yesterday to remember a friend and
family member.

through the James Crossing apartment
complex in honor of Clarence Beard Jr.
Beard died last September of
apparent heart failure while being
arrested by Lynchburg police.
An investigation cleared the
officers of any wrongdoing, but many
black residents felt the incident was
covered up.
Beard's fiancee is still trying to
move on.

3 of which are full regulation fields.
They are clearly needed because
the fields across the street at River's
Edge are typically used more than 200
times a year.

City leaders say the new fields
will help alleviate that and so far
