a case involving the carbon-monoxide
poisoining last year at Roanoke
College.

reached an agrement with both Roanoke
College and State Industries.
The settlement was for an
undisclosed amount.
Vierling was the only one to die
from the incident in July of 2006, when
carbon monoxide seeped from a

equipment from several colleges up and
down the East Coast.
What started out as a routine
burglary at Washington and Lee turned
out to be a major burglary ring.

Earlier this summer.... eight
high-tech computer projectors were
stolen from W and L.
Investigators determined the man
responsible for the crime was Curtis
White...a man who they say is shown
here taking equipment from George
Mason.
Police believe he and several
others were also involved with
robberies at various colleges.
White is being held in the
Fairfax County Jail.
Investigators believe between 300
to 500 thousand dollars worth of
equipment has been stolen from the
schools.

simply pick up and move to a new home
when their old home is threatened ...

quarry operation began encroaching on
the habitat of some rare salamanders, a
local naturalist had a unique solution.
Instead of creating a new
wetland for the mole salamander, Mike
Hayslett proposed moving the existing
wetland to a quieter spot on the Boxley
Materials property.

has finally received a much needed
facelift.

The old Chesapeake and Ohio depot
station has reopened for use.
The building opened in the early
1900's and remained the city's main
passenger depot for several years.
It will now serve as the
headquarters for the Alleghany
historical society.
Local volunteers and leaders hope
to develop a local museum and visitors
center in the near future.
There will be an open house
tomorrow afternoon.
And if you can't make that....the
building will be open in the afternoons
next week.

history......Stonewall Jackson's horse
is finally getting cleaned up after
more than a hundred years after he
died.

Conservators are in Lexington,
spending two weeks working on Little
Sorrel. (sor-uhl)
The horse survived the
Civil War, though his famous owner did
not. The horse died in 1886.
The hide was preserved,
stretched over a plaster body and put
on public display.
