William Campbell vs. Appomattox The Raiders exploded onto their :00 home field hoping to improve to a stout
4 and 0 on the season.

But the visitors from Naruna have
a lot of talent. Baron Adams passes to
Stanley Peerman, and Cedric's younger
brother will do the rest motoring home
from 64 yards out and the Generals are
on top 6-to-nothing after the blocked
kick.

More Generals - this time Adams
hands off to Peerman, but this time the
Raiders defense forces the fumble.
Appomattox recovers the ball right
around midfield.

A few plays later, the Raiders'
Joe Reed hands off to Rico Rose, and
Rico will take it to the zone from 17

yards out to make it 7-to-6 in favor of
the home boys. *CG ffefinal William Campbell

35 But Appomattox would run into a Appomattox problem as Carson Jones is back to 28 punt, and Donald Byrd is able to block

on to 8-to-7.

William Campbell wins it 35 to

(END SOT) BITES:

Boo did most of the scaring against
Christiansburg.

With just over 7 minutes to go, Bassett
trailed 34 to 25 on the scoreboard.
But Woods led the Bengals to 13 points

over the next 6 and a half minutes,
culminating in a 38-34 win over the
Blue Demons. Woods ran for 201 yards
and three scores, while throwing for
134 yards and another touchdown,
helping the Bengals stay unbeaten at 5
and oh.

RASHAWN WOODS/FFE PLAYER OF THE WEEK:

JAY GILBERT/BASSETT HEAD COACH:

Woods took his first snap as a
freshman, taking over for the injured
Brandon Johnson in the 2005 season
opener against Carroll County, and he's
been the starter ever since.

JAY:

RASHAWN:

At 5-9, 190 pounds, Woods might seem
undersized for a quarterback. But what
he lacks in stature, he more than makes
up for with heart.

JAY:

RASHAWN:

TRAVIS: Woods is the first junior to
be named a team captain at Bassett
since Gilbert took over the program in
2004. Travis Wells, Friday Football
