Forestry has issued a warning to all
counties to be prepared for fire
season.

Now, while that might not seem
like a big deal, Salem fire experts say
its unusual to get this type of
warning.

They call the warning unusual
because we're approaching fire season,

We're told, 90 percent of wild
fires are started by people.

To avoid triggering one, the
Virginia Department of Forestry is
encouraging everyone to avoid burning

Community on Hersberger Road are
searching for a missing resident this
evening.

David W. Hayden was last seen
around 6:45 last night.

His red "Suzuki Vitara" is also
gone from the parking lot.

Hayden is 79-years-old, six feet
tall and 260 pounds.

Someone last saw him wearing
black pants and a dark blue shirt.

He also uses a walker.

If you happen to spot him or know
where he might the retirement center is
asking that you call the police.

Covington has reopened for business.

The C and O depot opened it's
doors to the public this afternoon
after undergoing about two years of
renovations..

The station used to be the city's
main passenger station for years.

Originally built in the early
1900's.

And with some grant money...the
building has a new look.

City leaders and volunteers do
have some big plans for the space.

costumes - the fifth century was the
start of medieval period - at least
according to many world scholars.

Roanoke County Parks and Rec.
helped put on the medieval faire at
Green Hill Park this afternoon.

The department was hoping to
entice families with school aged
children to come out - so they could
get a much more visual lesson on a
popular time period.
