Liberty vs. Heritage The Pioneers and Minutemen have :00 split their six games against each
other since Chris Jones arrived in
Lynchburg.

Heritage's A.J. Payne will make
it happen for the home team early as he
scrambles and eventually gets through
the defense and into the endzone on an
18 yard scamper. It's 7-to-nothing
Pioneers in the first.

Liberty would get the ball back,
but turn it right back over as Darryl
Reid recovers the fumble as the ball
rolls right into his arms.

A few plays later, Payne will
again scramble through the defense and

this time it's a 25 yard dash to for
the endzone.

A.J. becomes a "Royal Payne" for
Liberty as he makes it 14-to-nothing.

Liberty would get the ball in a
hole, and again the Minutemen would
turn it over as Dallas McDaniel
recovers the ball again in Minutemen
territory.

More Liberty and more turnovers
later in the first half as James Carter
recovers as the Minutemen fumbled away
their first three possessions.

The gifts would keep on giving as
Brian Patterson scores from the four to
make it 21-to-nothing. *CG ffefinal Liberty

Rustburg vs. Amherst Co. Another big and rowdy crowd on :00 hand tonight in Amherst as the Lancers
looked to make quick work of the Red

We pick it up in the second, and
the Lancers' Peter Rose hands off to
Josh Braxton. He fakes out the defense
and cuts it loose up the defense for
the 32 yard touchdown. The Lancers
take a 34-to-6 lead in the second.

More Amherst. Rose scrambles out
of the pocket and he will pass to
Anthony Rose, who breaks a tackle and
finds the endzone on the 25 yard
scoring play and the home boys are on
top 41-to-6.

In the third Anthony Fletcher who
is now in at quarterback runs around
the outside and he will find the
endzone on the 20 yard gallop. The

Lancers are now on top 48-to-6.

More Lancers as Fletcher makes
the most of his playing time scoring
from the five. The Lancers complete a

The band played during the

was crowned this year's queen.

Unfortunately for the Knights,
the game itself a bit more forgettable.
It was 75 degrees at Bogle Field, but
it was snowing the endzone as Byrd
fullback Tyler Snow scores on the three
yard run to make it 28-to-nothing just

The second half was more of the
same. Landon Johnson puts some serious
air under this toss and Brandon Garnett
will haul it in at the Cave Spring 31.
The pitch and catch picks up 36 yards
for the Terriers.

Johnson would finish it off as he
keeps, makes a few Knights miss, and

Brent Hubbard would tack on
another TD as he takes this one 49

Giles' Mario Jones will take the

GRAPHIC=PLAYER OF THE WEEK We have reached the point in the

show that we hand out the Friday
Football Player of the week Honors.

We head to the Hill City to hand
out the award.
GRAPHIC=PAYNE FULL SCREEN

A.J. Payne the Pioneers' Senior
Quarterback and Defensive Back gets the
honor for his game against Jefferson
Forest.

Payne did pretty much everything
on the field as well as lifting the
spirits of his Coach off the field.

Grant Kittelson introduces us to
A.J. Payne.

OQ=Friday Football Extra. << In 20 Years when reliving the
(END SOT) story of Heritage's 4th quarter drive

to win the game against Jefferson
Forest on September 28th there maybe
some exageration put in, but the truth
itself is rather impressive.

Pioneers Quarterback A.J. Payne
led his team on an 18 play 90 yard
drive to win the game, converting 3
fourth downs along the way. Including
a 4th and 12 rollout pass, throwing
back across the field to set up the
game winning score with 30 seconds to
go.

It was all part of an impressive
game for Payne who completed 11 of 17
passes total and intercepted 2
Jefferson Forest Passes on Defense

(PAYNE BITE:)

(JONES BITE:)

(STANDUP: The Week leading up to the
game against Jefferson Forest was
espcially tough for Head Coach Chris
Jones. His Father had passed away the
weekend before. That meant a different
week of preperation for Payne and
company.

(A.J. BITE:)

(JONES BITE:)

The importance of family to
Jones, makes the compliment that he
pays the type of kid Payne is off the
field even more impressive.

(JONES BITE:)

Payne's role as the starting
quarterback for Heritage has progressed
over his 3 seasons as a Starter.

(JONES BITE:)

(PAYNE BITE:)

Payne and the rest of the
Heritage Family hope that he can carry
them a long way together this season.
