in a Blacksburg neighborhood this past
Saturday apparently had years of
experience under his belt.

was badly burned in the accident.
At last check, the 60 year-old
was in critical condition at U-V-A
Medical Center.

Pelt does have a private pilot
license, and he kept his gyrocopter at
the Virginia Tech Montgomery Executive
Airport for at least the past 5 years.
And quite a few people have seen
Pelt flying around town for

started doing.
The FAA is expected to pick up
the investigation tomorrow.

The test lasted several minutes
and was NOT without a few glitches. The
siren did blare as expected but when it
stopped, loudspeakers began playing two
messages at the same time. One was a
pre-recorded test message telling
people to seek shelter immediately.
Later on, a voice came on the
loudspeaker and said the operation was
a test.
The university plans to test the
system once a semester.

fueled a junkyard fire in Bedford
County today ... one that spread into
nearby woods before firefighters could
bring it under control.

was so large.. fire crews spotted it
from their station in Moneta this
afternoon around one.
Fire had consumed a van and a
pile of junk and was spreading into the

decline from a year agao.

The Roanoke Valley Association of
Realtors says sales are down compared
to this time last year, but the average
price of homes that sell is slightly

12-percent. Statewide, they're slightly
higher, but in the Roanoke Region, the
decline is a little below nine-percent.
Those in the industry say while
things have slowed down, Roanoke is

Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. The high temperature today in
Roanoke was a record 91 and the low was
65 .The national analysis shows a
large, strong ridge of high pressure
has prompted the return of summer-like
heat to begin the week. Record highs
were set in Roanoke, Danville,
Lynchburg, Blacksburg and Bluefield
Monday afternoon. This same high
pressure will provide another
sweltering afternoon Tuesday, with some
record highs being challenged. A
strong cold front enters the area late
Tuesday into Wednesday. We're not
anticipating anything more than a few
isolated showers as it passes through.
The winds will also increase a bit. The
main story with this front will be
sharply cooler temperatures by Thursday
and Friday. Highs will barely make it
into the upper 60s to near 70. We'll
also monitor and upper level low coming
out of the Great Lakes by the end of
the week. This may provide another
opportunity for showers in the western
mountains. MONDAY NIGHT: Partly

jury descended into the Paris tunnel to
survey the site of the crash that took
the lives of Princess Diana and
boyfriend Dodi al Fayed.

THEY WERE VERY QUIET AS THEY WENT
AROUND. THEY SOMETIMES WENT OFF IN
PAIRS, THEY SOMETIMES TALKED TO ONE
ANOTHER.
The British jurors in the Diana inquest
came here to PARIS to see and sense for
themselves what the last moments of the
lovers' LIVES were like in order to
better decide the cause of their
DEATHS.
Twice they passed through the tunnel

The judge told the jury it wasn't the
same -- with the press and police
gathered during the day.
Tuesday - they'll visit Dodi's private
apartment - and the hospital where
Diana lost her life.
The inquest is aimed at answering the
conspiracy questions at the heart of
the case: were they in love? Engaged?
Was Diana pregnant...COULD they have
been ASSASSINATED by the Royal Family?
Those who best know the facts doubt
those theories.

scenes leg work that made three
flyovers featuring three very different
types of aircraft a reality in
September.

Tech - are full of Tech alums - and
that makes the the flyover twice as
special.

It's really special when the
aircraft hits just at the right time -
the end of the national anthem.
To help coordinate that - an
advance team - in direct radio contact
with the pilot is positioned on top of
Lane Stadium.

While it may seem a bit strange
to have this many flyovers in war time,
Col. Roszak says not so.
Not all of the nation's aricraft is
deployed in the war zone, and the Air
Force sees these type of events as
extremely important recruiting tools.

awards tonight and surprisingly neither
Macho Harris nor Eddie Royal won the
Special teams player of the week honor,

named the ACC's rookie of the week
tonight.
In Saturday's 41-23 win at
Clemson, Taylor accounted for 183 yards
of total offense. He rang up 118 yards
on the ground, along with 65 through
the air. Taylor threw for one touchdown
and had no interceptions in his fourth
career start.
He's now 4 and 0 as a starter and
he has 233 rushing yards for the season
heading to Duke.

Country Club Floyd County is on course
