Living a good clean life has its
rewards and researchers say one of
those rewards could be an increased
resistance to Alzheimer's disease.

(vo)

A long-running study reports that
people who are conscientious appear to
be less likely to develop the
brain-wasting condition.

Those that described themselves as
self-disciplined and goal-directed had
an 89-percent lower risk of developing
the disorder and had a slower rate of
cognitive decline and impairment.

Researchers have no idea why but
theorize it's because conscientious
people tend to be more resilient,
making them better able to cope with
difficulties.

(wipevo)

Changing its standard procedure, the
Food and Drug Administration plans to
speed review of cheaper versions of
brand-name drugs.

Officials said the push includes an
expedited review process using an
updated format and team reviews of
multiple applications for the same
product.

The F-D-A approved a record 682 generic
drugs last year and faces a backlog of
13-hundred applications, up from about
800 about a year ago.

(wipevo)

Inspections have found the rate of
stores illegally selling cigarettes to

underage youth dropped to just over
10-percent last year.

That is the lowest rate since states
started conducting the stings a decade
ago.

For the first time in history, every
state had a violation rate of less than
20-percent.

The men and women of the jury have
already taken a 'virtual' tour of

Diana's last trip...this re-creation of
the route her car took before crashing

in a Paris tunnel.

NOW...they've come to Paris themselves,
to see it all up close. They'll

retrace the last steps of Princess
Diana and her boyfriend Dodi al Fayed
that

night at the Ritz hotel....how they
snuck out the back to throw off the

paparazzi.

The elevator they took together --
where Diana unwittingly gave the world
her

last smile.

To the service exit, where Dodi put his
arm around Diana...to the steps

outside, where Henri Paul drove them on
the short trip that would end in such

tragedy.

ON CAMERA BRIDGE (OUTSIDE ALMA TUNNEL):
THE JURY WILL BE SHOWN THAT THE CAR

CARRYING DIANA AND DODI ENTERED THIS
TUNNEL AT HIGH SPEED...AND THE ENTIRE

INQUEST IS BASED ON WHAT HAPPENED RIGHT

HERE: A TRAGIC ACCIDENT, OR AN

ELABORATE ASSASSINATION?

The jury will also want to get a sense
of how Diana and Dodi FELT that

night...WERE they a couple in
LOVE...about to announce THEIR
ENGAGEMENT?

(cbs video)

The Princess's former private secretary
for EIGHT years knows how to read her

body language.

PATRICK JEPHSON, PRINCESS DIANA'S
FORMER PRIVATE SECRETARY

I'M NOT SAYING THAT THEY WERE NOT
ENGAGED. BUT IT'S NOT APPARENT FROM
THESE

PHOTOGRAPHS THAT THEY WERE THINKING AS
ONE, ACTING AS ONE, WITH EYES ONLY FOR

EACH OTHER.

(VIDEO FROM: THE ROYAL COURT)

NOW, the eyes of the WORLD return to
scenes from a decade ago...as six women

and five men reach ONE decision as to
what EXACTLY happened that night.

GRAPHIC=Drought The state's drought continues to

have an affect on crops...this time
it's the peanut.

While they are usually more
tolerant of dry conditions, the
statewide drought proved too much this
growing season.

Because the lack of rain has made
the ground hard like concrete peanut
farmers report the vines could barely
worm their way into the ground and when
they did they just dried up.

The harvest began last week.

(END SOT) Part of the effort to put the state

budget back in the black got one
viewer's attention. ABC stores are
expected to bring in more money by
extending hours. "Why in the world
would governor Kaine give the ABC
stores longer hours," Emma Brown wrote
to us. "That is just what we need--
more liquor sold longer hours to get it
and more alcohol related offenses. "

The anger over the sale of artwork at
Randolph College in Lynchburg has
reached all the way to South Korea.

A graduate now living there is furious:

"Any institution ignorant enough to
auction off art work of such intrinsic
cultural and historical value does not
deserve to own it. I am utterly
disgusted by Randolph College's lack of
vision and inability to perceive and
appreciate that which is truly of
value. "

And Travis Wells' coverage of football

and faith at Virginia Tech got a nod of
approval:

"Thank you so much for your piece on
the Bible studies for the VT football
team," Wendy Hunter wrote "Other
stations would never want to carry
something as radical as that!!! It was
a wonderful start to my day today!! "

If you have a comment about the news or

Living a good clean life has its
rewards and researchers say one of
those rewards could be an increased
resistance to Alzheimer's disease.

(vo)

A long-running study reports that
people who are conscientious appear to
be less likely to develop the
brain-wasting condition.

Those that described themselves as
self-disciplined and goal-directed had
an 89-percent lower risk of developing
the disorder and had a slower rate of
cognitive decline and impairment.

Researchers have no idea why but
theorize it's because conscientious
people tend to be more resilient,
making them better able to cope with
difficulties.

(wipevo)

Changing its standard procedure, the
Food and Drug Administration plans to
speed review of cheaper versions of
brand-name drugs.

Officials said the push includes an
expedited review process using an
updated format and team reviews of
multiple applications for the same
product.

The F-D-A approved a record 682 generic
drugs last year and faces a backlog of
13-hundred applications, up from about
800 about a year ago.

(wipevo)

Inspections have found the rate of
stores illegally selling cigarettes to
underage youth dropped to just over
10-percent last year.

That is the lowest rate since states
started conducting the stings a decade
ago.

For the first time in history, every
state had a violation rate of less than
20-percent.
