County family's worst fears have been
realized.

It was shortly after noon today
when the wreckage of a car was
spotted- it was down a 30-foot
embankmen near Nester Road - That's in
the Thaxton area of Bedford County.
Authorities later confirmed the
car belonged to 19-year-old Samantha
Bittler ... who disappeared after
leaving a friend's house nine days ago.
Bittler's body was found outside
the car ... authorities are working to
figure out what happened.

The 19-year-old was spending the

Botetourt County.
The next day she never made it to

Center. After another day of record
highs, look for official numbers
tonight on News 7 at 6, get ready for a
change. A cold front will move through
this evening bringing a few showers and
storms. Most will fall apart as they
cross the mountains. The winds will
also increase a bit during the passage.
Behind the front, much cooler
temperatures, with highs barely making
it into the 80s Wednesday, and only
upper 60s to near 70 Thursday and
Friday. We'll also monitor an upper

swing but basketball is not far from
tipping off Pre-season Practice.
That includes the V-M-I Keydets
who have some lofty expectations to
live up to according to the Big South
Pre-Season Hoops Poll.

VO-NAT The Keydets are picked to finish
3rd in the conference behind High Point
and Winthrop. V-M-I returns 4 starters
from last year's team that went all the
way to the Big South Conference
Tournament Finals. Duggar Baucom's
club led all of Division 1 in Scoring
last season at over a hundred points
per game.
A big part of that scoring out
put was Reggie Williams he led Division
1 in Scoring at 28 points per game and
returns for his senior Season.
Williams is a Pre-Season Big South All
Conference First Team Selection.
As for Brad Greenberg in his
first season on the Radford Bench. The
Highlanders are picked to finish 8th,
out of 8 Teams in the Big South.

what has to be the world's luckiest
marsupial.

During a car race on Saturday, a
kangaroo hopped onto the track and
continued down the road. The drivers
had to slam on the brakes. Several had
to swerve and run off the track just
missing the animal.
No one was hurt and the animal was
able to get off the course safely
before returning to the wild.
Incidentially kangaroos can run up
to 30 miles an hour. While that is
fast for an animal, he would have been
too slow to qualify for the race.
