Gretna vs. Chatham Gretna brought plenty of offense
:00 and their own banners to the battle
that turned out to be rather lopsided.
This is what it was like all
night long. Fourth down and 8 in the
first quarter, and Nicholas Miller lets
one fly over the middle and he will hit
Bryant Venable right in stride on the
48 scoring strike. The Hawks scored
the first 22 points of the game.
Chatham's six-foot-four inch
Solomon Witcher will get one of those
back as he takes the direct snap and
takes off down the left sideline.
Witcher will motor 59 yards to the
house to make it a 22-to-7 game still
in the first quarter.
Gretna answer and makes it looks
easy as Miller strolls in for an easy
TD and it's 30-to-7 Hawks in the second
quarter.
Just before the half Gretna would
convert a 3rd and long situation with
this pass to Stephon Jennings and it

season. But against Franklin County,
the 5-11, 170 pound receiver hauled in
TD catches on the Eagles first three
possessions and later added a two point
conversion. He finished the night,
grabbing 5 passes for 114 yards, to go
with another 30 yards and a score on
the ground. That's 7 touches for 26
points all while playing the entire
game at safety.
DAN NEWELL/GEORGE WASHINGTON HEAD
COACH:
DOMINIQUE FITZGERALD/PLAYER OF THE
WEEK:
GW rushes for nearly 300 yards per
game, but if Fitzgerald and his
classmate quarterback T-J Price
continue to connect on a regular basis,
the Eagles may take flight a little
more often.
DOMINIQUE:
DAN:
While Fitzgerald has a flair for making
the dramatic catch, he also has some
flair in his wardrobe. His mom works
in a local clothing store, giving him
plenty of fashion sense.
DAN:
DOMINIQUE:
Fitzgerald's closet is full and so is
his plate. Like former Eagle Kenny
Lewis, Jr., Dominique is also a
standout baseball player, but he too
should have a future in football. He's
already been offered a full ride by
Delaware State, and is being recruited
by Elon, Liberty, William & Mary, Old
Dominion, and Norfolk State. Travis
Wells, Friday Football Extra.
