thoroughly cleaned.
The facilities are back open
today and officials are hoping to get
classes back to normal.

Students and parents protested
Tuesday that the school was not
clean... not safe.
That led officials to bring in an
outside professional cleaning company
to scrub down Staunton River high
school.

:00 The latest cases of MRSA have
popped up in Giles County.
Two students at Narrows High
School have the infection.
One was treated and is back in
school.
Principal Robert Stump just found
out about the second student yesterday
afternoon.
He said janitors, teachers and
students have been taking precautionary
cleaning measures for more than a month
- when they first heard about MRSA in
our area.
Antibacterial wipes and sprays
are being used daily to clean all
surfaces in the school.
In addition - a letter was sent
home with students so parents can learn
more about MRSA.

lose its license for a month and have
to pay a fine for animal welfare
violations.

week, owner Karl Morgensen admitted to
several violations.
Among them-- failure to maintain
animal housing, failure to protect food
from contamination, as well as failure
to construct proper fencing

2001 dollar fine from the U-S Department of
Agriculture.
The Zoo's license will also be
suspended for the month of January.
Natural Bridge Zoo began
operation in Rockbridge County in 1972

falling apart....so V-DOT has closed
it......
Penvir Road Bridge -- crosses
Wolf Creek, and will be closed
indefinately.
The overhead truss bridge was
built in 1924, and carries about 90
cars per day.
V-DOT was inspecting the bridge
every twelve months, but because of
rapid deterioration, it was shut down
yesterday.

approaches the region today, we'll
notice mostly cloudy skies with a few
scattered showers. Any rainfall we do
get will be welcomed across the area.
As a cold front passes through on
Friday, enough afternoon sun may help
trigger strong to severe storms. This
same front will bring another chance
for some showers and also drop
temperatures into the lower 70s on
Saturday. We'll clear things out in
