A state of emergency has been declared
in Nappanee after an apparent tornado
swept through the Northern Indiana town
overnight.
Sot: mos
It was terrifying, it really was.
Property damage is extensive and many
power lines are down. A man and his
two young daughters sat trapped in
their car when a live utility pole
landed on top of them. The family is
okay, but several residents suffered
minor injuries. The town was so hard
it... all businesses have been ordered
closed today.
Sot: mos
It is a mess. We ve lost. It looks
like we ve lost 3 or 4 buildings
completely.
(Karen Brown Bridge)
Now the same storm system is headed
toward the northeast.where rain and
severe thunderstorms could make for a
messy Friday afternoon here in New
York.
(Locator: Pensacola, FL)
(natz chainsaw)
In Florida people are cleaning up from
the tornado that tore through Pensacola
yesterday. The twister slammed the
town s main shopping mall and damaged a
church. It also destroyed this home,
but spared all eight people ...
watching TV inside.
Sot: mos (14:35:10)
The house shook and the next thing we
knew it was down on us.
As the storms track east more twisters
and severe thunderstorms are possible.
But forecasters do not expect them to
pack the kind of the punch that
battered the southeast and Midwest.
