ban on uranium mining.
But now, a group of Pittsylvania
County landowners are looking to change
that.
The reason? They're sitting on 92
million pounds of uranium ore.

wounds.

of patient....Taliban and Al Qaeda
operatives.

shooting in Roanoke.
It happened in the 1500 block of
Morningside Street at around 3
yesterday morning.
Police say Shannon Wright and

in Iraq.
Corporal Erik Garoutte (GA-rout)
of Santee, California, died Friday in
Baghdad "as a result of unknown
causes."
Garoutte (GA-rout) was assigned
to the 1st Fleet Anti-Terrorism
Security Team Company based in Norfolk.
He joined the Marine Corps in
November 2005.

community this weekend.

of the Blacksburg football team, until
he was suddenly struck with a rare
illness that left him paralyzed from
the neck down.
Doctors say he had a stroke in
his spinal cord.
Over the weekend...friends,

seven-thousand dollars for his medical
expenses.

mid to upper 70s. Our next storm system
is taking shape across the southern
Plains. This will bring us an extended
period of shower chances for the
upcoming week. Most of us will stay dry
through Monday, but by Monday night and
Tuesday low pressure will be cut off
from the main steering currents around
the lower Mississippi River Valley.
This low, with a front in our
neighborhood, will bring clouds and
occasional showers Tuesday through
Thursday morning. Temperatures will
range from the 60s to 70s during this
time. We should dry out throughout the
day on Friday. Next weekend is looking
partly sunny with highs in the low to
mid 60s.
