They discussed how to better dispatch
to forest fires and ways to coordinate

Wytheville yesterday following a
hold-up at an area business.

Check Cashing - which is located inside
Houseman's Tax Service along West Main
Street.
Police say the thief had a pistol
and demanded cash.
The owner of the business says
the robber - a white man - had on a ski
mask, gloves and a dark plaid shirt.
Police say he's still on the run.
Three schools in Wytheville went
on lockdown Monday just as a
precaution, but classes continued.

the dogs...

March The off- leash dog park opened in
March to rave reviews.
The city found a lot of dogs used
it for the first few weeks and then
usage dropped dramatically.
That's because dogs had to be
under voice command at all times and
many found that difficult since there's
no fence.
So the city is teaming up with a
local group called Newvaconnects to
build a fence.
The hope is to have it in place
by next spring.

figure out the cause of a fatal
gyro-copter crash in Blacksburg.

aircraft landed in a backyard and burst
into flames, killing the passenger and
severely burning the pilot.
The F-A-A released a preliminary
report Monday.
Investigators say most of the
aircraft was burned, but the few parts
they salvaged appeared to be working.

is hoping to be one of the first to
grow and sell his own biodiesel.

Within the next few months he
plans start producing a biodiesel blend
at another facility across the street
from his truck stop using the oil from
Canola seeds.
Price believes Canola could bring
in big bucks for him and others.

<< Good morning, I'm Meteorologist Leo
Hirsbrunner in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. Mostly cloudy today with
scattered showers. The winds will also
increase as we head through the day.
The best chance of rain will be in the
western mountains. The next weather
system will be coming from the Plains
states. An area of low pressure will be
guided by a cold front just to the
west. The two will remain close enough
that we'll have cloudy skies and
occasional showers in the forecast over
the next few days. The front is
scheduled to pass south of Virginia on
Wednesday, this would mean clouds and
showers through the end of the week.
Temperatures will also respond to the
clouds and showers, with highs in the
70s, then fall into the 60s for the
remainder of the week. Models are still
inconsistent about the weekend, but it
appears another front will approach the
region bringing showers on Saturday and
drier, cooler air on Sunday. Get the
