day tomorrow cleaning its Lynchburg
campus so all classes have been
cancelled.

This decision was made because an
employee tested positive for MRSA.

The college says they were not
required or advised to close the
campus, but they'd rather be criticized
for over-reacting than under-reacting.

allowed to carry a concealed weapon
onto a college campus.

Tonight that controversial topic
once again took center stage as the
Libertarians, a student organization at
Virginia Tech, posed the question to
their peers and the public.

students and faculty members had been
legally carrying guns.

Another person that shares this
belief was the guest speaker Philip Van
Cleave.

He's president of the Virginia
Citizens' Defense League.

Cleave spoke on "Higher ed. and
lawful concealed carry..what is your
life worth?"

The premise of the speech is..
just because students are students and
teachers are teachers doesn't mean they
should lose their right to bear arms
when they step onto a college campus.

relief to a lot of areas plagued by
water shortages...

The town of Amherst lifted the
mandatory conservation order put in
place four weeks ago ...because the
Buffalo River is back to its normal
levels.

And the city of Lynchburg is back
to drawing 100 percent of its daily
water from the Pedlar Reservoir in
Amherst County.

The reservoir has risen more than
four feet since last week.

That means Lynchburg is no longer
relying on the James River for any of
its water needs.

in the United States, approximately 8.1
million heat with oil.

On Friday - oil rose to more than
92-dollars a barrel- those high costs
are already trickling down to
customers.

This time last year, Martin Oil
Company in Elliston was charging 2-
dollars .26 cents a gallon.

This year the price is 70-cents
more.

The company says it has already
paid millions in government fines, as

by fishermen, landowners, local
governments and native americans who
claimed private economic harm from the
spill. Oral arguments will be held

decided to cut their ties with the
United Steelworkers Union.

They voted yesterday to
disaffiliate from the international
mega-union.

MeadWestvaco without a contract since
last December.

and Negotiations have gone
nowhere.

Last week notices went up around
the plant calling for a vote to
dissolve their affiliation with the
Steelworkers.

The final tally was 485 to 15

of 96-percent, it was barely a majority
of the total membership.

people were when 17 year old Genarlow
Wilson was imprisoned for having oral
sex with a 15 year old girl....

He was sentenced to 10 years and
labeled him a sex offender.

Nearly three years into that
sentence...in a 4 to 3 vote, the
Georgia Supreme Court ruled that as
"cruel and unusual punishment for his
crime."

Center. The high temperature today in
Roanoke was 58 and the low was 32. As
many woke to frosty conditions this
morning, the growing season has ended
along and west of the Blue Ridge
mountains. Even though sub-freezing
temperatures are expected again for
these areas, no advisories will be
issued since the growing season is
over. On the other hand, a FREEZE
WARNING has been issued for areas east
of the Blue Ridge. A large ridge of
high pressure will keep the weather
tranquil through the week, with clear

skies both night and day. This week
mean a fairly large temperature swing
with chilly mornings and comfortable
afternoons. Temperatures will moderate
a bit by midweek as winds come in from
the south. Several fronts will try to
make a run at us, with little
success.Tropical Storm Noel formed in
the Central Caribbean Sea over the
weekend. Most of the rain will stay off
the east coast. However, coastal rip

It look a while, but the ACC and
the folks at ESPN finally got the
broadcast schedule ironed out for the
weekend on November the 10th.

The Hokies host Florida State
that Saturday and that game will
kickoff at 3:30 on ABC.

The UVA game that weekend against
Miami in the Orange Bowl will start at
7:15pm and it will be televised on
either ESPN2 or ESPNU.

a number of Friday Football Extra's
teams to postponed their games until
tonight.

Somoe did play on Saturday, but
there were a bunch of games taking
place around the region tonight.

Blacksburg vs. Pulaski Co. One of those was in Pulaski where
the Cougars and Blacksburg Bruins
hooked up in a River Ridge showdown at
Kenneth Dobson Stadium.

The Bruins would get the opening
kickoff and begin to march down the
field, on a 3rd down, Trey Gresh will
rollout and find Greg Keyes who makes
the nice catch and run for a Blacksburg
First down.

Gresh showing that he is a dual
threat as well, he rolls to his right,
decides to tuck it and run, cutting
back across the field to score from 23
yards out anda the Bruins had a 7 to

nothing lead.

Pulaski County would respond with
their ground game, as Seth Parris the
big fullback playing with a cast on his
thumb scores from in close to tie the
ball-game up at 7 a piece in the first
quarter.

The Cougars came up with a number
of big plays in the first half, forcing *CG final Blacksburg 4 Turnovers in the first 2 Quarters. 28 Clay White will pick off Gresh for the Pulaski County second time but Blacksburg scored 14 23 points in the last 7 minutes to beat
Pulaski 28-to-23.

tonight in Daleville as the Lord
Botetourt Cavaliers tried to play the
role of spoiler against Alleghany as
the Mountaineers made the shot drive
down route 200 from Low Moor.

Alleghany vs. Lord Botetourt It was senior night for the Lord
Botetourt Cavaliers as they looked to
send their upperclassmen out on a
postivie note. The Mounties meanwhile
were simply focused on pick picking up
their 7th win of the season against the
2 and 6 Cavs.

But after falling behind
7-to-nothing, LB came alive. The hard
nosed running back Marquece Perdue will
cap off a drive with a bang-bang two
yard run to tie the game at 7-all.

And Perdue was just getting
warmed up. Watch this run as he breaks
a tackle early *CG final Alleghany and then drags two and eventually three 7 Mountaineer defenders into the endzone. Lord Botetourt Now, there's a senior that wants to go 37 on top.
