:15-:21 (Melissa Cohn / Manhattan

"THERE IS SOME BENEFIT TO HOUSING
BECAUSE THE FED CUT MEANS THE PRIME
RATE
GOES DOWN, WHICH MEANS PEOPLES' HOME
EQUITY RATES GO DOWN."
So ... if you're thinking of borrowing
money against your home to consolidate
bills or make home improvements ...
that cash just got a little cheaper.
Here's how it breaks down ...
(GRFX)
Seven weeks ago, before the fed started
cutting interest rates, a one hundred
thousand dollar home equity loan at the
prime rate of 8.25 percent would mean
a monthly interest payment of roughly
688 dollars ... after two rate cuts
that
same equity loan at the new rate of
7.5 percent would bring your payment to
625 a month. A savings of 750 dollars a
year.
The rate cut also affects credit card
rates and loans on big purchases like
cars.
1:01-1:09(standup: Alexis Christoforous

"It was enough to get Wall Street
revved up ... but the most important
impact
will likely be on Main Street ... where
the rate cut is expected to boost
consumer confidence."

"it is stimulus. it helps the country,
it helps corporate America and
ultimately it helps earnings, and
therefore should help the stock market.
While this is the second rate cut in as
many months ... the Fed hinted it may
be the last for some time.

Groh has been doing more than
impersonating a coach this year. The
Cavs already have 7 wins and Saturday
you can watch them go go number 8 as
they hook up with the Demon Deacons at
Noon from Scott Stadium right here on
WDBJ-7.
Take care everybody - Jean Jadhon
will be back in just a moment.
