They say they first learned about
this situation about 48 hours ago, when
several people started turning up with
similar symptoms.
They won't tell us what those

But I spoke with students who
tell me... they heard some students had
been twitching and experiencing seizure
like symptoms.

They were acting out of caution,

employees of the Roanoke business
discovered what looked like an
artillery shell.
It came in a crate of items they
say they acquired from Virginia Scrap
Iron and Metal.
They couldn't tell if the shell
was live, but owner Mike Whiteside says
they called police to be safe.

police bomb disposal unit... And a

discovered, it was safely removed.
The incident forced Black Dog
Salvage to close for the day, but with
the parking lot now free of any
suspicious shells, the owners say
they'll be open for business on
Saturday morning.

County woman says she can't pay.

Doris Slaughter found out about
the big bill shortly after her husband
died in 2005.
He always paid the bills.
But apparently not this one -

from the 90's.
The principle is about 45-hundred
dollars, but the penalties and interest
added up over the years.

Center. Clear skies stay with us this
evening and through the night with high
pressure controlling the local weather
scene. Temperatures will get crisp, so
bundle up for Friday Football games.
Eventually, overnight lows are forecast
in the cold middle 30s. After a breezy
Friday, will keep busy northeasterly
gusts with us tonight as "Noel" stay
well east of our area. Winds tonight
will be sustained around 10mph with
gusts near 20mph. The weekend poses no
weather worries. Look for clear skies
Saturday through Sunday. Wind will be
from the northwest around 10-15mph
during this time. Highs are forecast in
the middle 60s Saturday, and near 60
Sunday. Nighttime lows will be in the
chilly middle and upper 30s. Monday
calls for mostly sunny skies, however,
an approaching front late Monday night
into Tuesday will bring a few more
clouds, and perhaps a few sprinkles or
isolated showers. There's not a lot of
moisture associated with this feature,
but there will be a big blast of cold
air. As skies clear Wednesday, expect
highs well below average in the lower
50s. The rest of the week will be
