GRAPHIC=AMHERST/HERITAGE We begin with one of those Region

3 teams - Amherst County.

Friday Football Extra's number
one team all season long was home last
night looking to complete a perfect
regular season and sew up the Seminole
district title outright.

In their first nine games this
season, Amherst had outscored the
opposition 471 to 78.

CHANNEL=A VO-NAT

*CG ffeloc Amherst Co.

Heritage vs. Amherst Co. The questions was - could Scott :00 Abell's team do the same against 8 and
1 Heritage - a team that desperately
needed to bounce back after losing to
Brookville last Saturday night.

Both figured Amherst would just
keep rolling and sure enough in the
first - Peter Rose goes to the air and
finds Derrick McCoy - both are headed
to Virginia Tech next season and this
time their headed to the endzone for
the 29 yard TD. It's 7-to-nothing

Lancers.

In the second quarter, Rose will
take off on the keeper. This time he
will bounce to the outside and score
from the five. It's now 14-to-nothing
in the second quarter.

Rose would later fake a handoff
and keep again. This time he rolls 15
yards up the middle for the second of
his 3 touchdown on the night. It was
eventually 28-to-nothing Lancers before
Heritage did anything.

Heritage's Brian Patterson will
attempt to keep this thing from blowing
before halftime. He receive the
kickoff, races through the middle of
the Lancers' kick coverage team and he
will outrun everyone in Maroon as he
goes 75 yards for the touchdown and
Heritage cuts the lead to 28-to-7. *CG ffefinal Heritage

13 Amherst would add to its total Amherst Co. before halftime as Rose's short pass to 42 Jon Moore turns into a TD as he
stumbles his way in for the 21 yard
touchdown and the Lancers' lead
balloons to 35-to-7.

Amherst rolls to the 42-to-13
win.

William Byrd vs. Alleghany The two long time rivals :00 exchanged some pleasantries at midfield

Ryan Kessinger stands tall in the
pocket and fires a bullet to his
favorite receiver Brandon Ross on the
slant-in. The speedy senior will carry
it inside the five and set up the first
TD of the night - 7 to nothing
Alleghany.

But Byrd would get it together
from that point on as Landon Johnson
bounces off some tackles and rolls the
distance scoring the tying TD. It's
7-all in the first.

Tyler Snow - the big fullback
will wedge his way in from the one yard
line to give Byrd its first lead of the

night at 14-to-7.

The Terriers' defense would then
make something happen. Number 53 -
junior Chris Dooley picks off the
Kessinger pass on the farside and watch
him find a seam and use his blockers en
route to a nice touchdown. 21-to-7
Byrd. *CG ffefinal William Byrd

Extra blaming Northside or Lord
Botetourt for this, but there's
something wrong with a team with a 2

with a playoff spot on the line.

The decision by Region Three to
expand the playoffs from four to six

Lord Botetourt vs. Northside It was senior night at Vikings' :00 stadium for the band members who were
recognized at midfield with their
parents. Lord Botetourt and Northside
were tied at seven late in the first
half.

That's where we pick it up as
Lord Botetourt's Emory Straub takes the
snap, fakes the handoff, and he will
look downfield to Hunter Foley - who
makes the catch anc moves the rock down
to the ten yard line.

Now with the ball just inside the
10, Straub will look for Tyler Landis
and find him in the right side of the
endzone as the Cavs take a 13 to 7 lead
into the lockeroom at halftime.

The Vikings figured they had
plenty of time to make up that deficit
and Philip Scott will lead a methodical
drive as he gets eight yards on this
carry up the middle.

The Vikings would move the ball

all the way down to the Vikings 13 yard
line, only to turn the ball over as
Brady Craft's pass is picked off by
Phillip Stone and that would be a
killer for the Vikes. *CG ffefinal Lord Botetourt

13 Botetourt would then control the Northside the clock with a variety of runs in the 7 closing minutes.

Despite finishing 4 and 6 on the

Spartans trailed for much of the game.
So Salem Head Coach Stephen Magenbauer
went to his come from behind Offense.
Which is very similiar to the offense
he runs while leading, Running the
football, The Workhorse was Jonathan
Clemo. The Senior rushed the ball 28
times for almost 2 hundred yards and 2
Fourth Quarter Touchdowns, as the
Spartans earned a come from behind 21
to 20 win.

(BITES:)

(STANDUP: The Spartans offense over the
last couple of seasons has been largely
focused around a duel threat
quarterback. This season it has been
about a dominant running game that
starts with the Big Boys Up Front.

(BITES:)

With the success of the Salem
Program over the years. Clemo like many
Spartans before him has had to wait his
turn to become a starter on the
varisty.

(BITES:)

Clemo's workmanlike performances
will continue as far has his legs and
his offensive can carry the Spartans
this season. Grant Kittelson Friday
