firecracker factory blew up-- killing
at least four people and injuring six.

explosions, which sent smoke spewing
into the air.
The impact of the explosion also
shattered the windows of nearby
buildings.
Rescuers had a hard time getting to

the identity of a body found in an
Amelia County landfill today.

as workers pushed trash that had been

The county sheriff says it does
not appear the man had been dead long.

leg.
Blood work has been inconclusive,

Station.

surrounding areas funnels through this
facility, is sorted and then shipped.
The director of the facility says
they have waste screening procedures in
place and someone who visually oversees

functioning smoke detector is not
enough.

writers contract.

substantial increase in residual
payments for movies and TV shows sold
on DVDs or downloaded on the internet,
cellphones, and other digital media.
TRACK: The writers guild says it s made
big compromises in past negotiations,
but the producers alliance says writers
are imposing unreasonable restrictions
and unjustified costs in its proposal.
(graph) The alliance says: We cannot
move further as long as that issue
remains on the table. In short, the DVD
issue is a complete roadblock to any
further progress .
TRACK: The strike in 1988 cost the
industry an estimated 500-million
dollars. Another one would ring up
millions of dollars a day.

diagnosed with autism, researchers and
doctors are working hard to come up
with new ways to treat the neurological
disorder.

In Lynchburg, the newly-opened
Rimland (RIM LIN) Center is already
seeing patients and families from as
far away as Italy.
It's named for autism pioneer
Dr. Bernard Rimland, who died last
year.
The center's director hopes to
