car crash in Roanoke County this
evening.

It happened on Catawba Valley
Drive near Newport Road.
County Police say the first
driver was traveling North when he hit
the animal and sent it flying through
the windshield of a second car.
It was the passenger in this
second car, Connie Barbaree, who died
at the scene.

not once but twice last night and
police say it doesn't appear to be an
accident.

parking lot of a bar.

Brambleton Avenue.

Authorities say Daryn Beck went
outside to move a friends car when she
apparently backed into Michael Scott
Gusler.
Witnesses say the two exchanged
words but then Gusler got back in his
car and hit the woman - she fell to the
ground.
Police say witnesses then
surrounded Gusler's car...that's when
he ran over someone else's foot and
then ran over the woman - for a second
time - while she was still on the
ground.
Police eventually caught up with
Gusler who by this time had left the
scene.
He was arrested.

weekend! Look for mostly clear skies
tonight with winds staying up from the
northwest. Some gusts may approach
25mph overnight. Low temperatures will
be chilly in the mid and upper 30s.

Sunday looks like a fairly quiet day
with mostly sunny skies. Some energy
will cross the area in the mid
afternoon, generating some clouds and
helping to drive in cooler
temperatures. Highs are forecast near
60 Sunday. Winds won't be as busy.
Highs Monday warm up to around 70 -
much warmer - just ahead of our next
cold front. Enjoy the warmth while it
lasts, because behind the front,
Tuesday will get sharply colder. Monday
calls for mostly sunny skies, with
increasing clouds Monday evening.
There's a 30% chance of light showers
Tuesday morning, then expect a breezy
and cooler day with decreasing
cloudiness. Highs Tuesday are expected
only around 50! Much colder! Right now,
it looks like the timing of the colder
air will be right to see a few snow
showers in the Greenbrier Valley of
West Virginia and the Highlands
throughout Tuesday. The western facing
slopes of the mountains will have the
best opportunity to see this activity.
The rest of the week will be dry with
partly cloudy conditions, and while
temperatures will slowly moderate
through the period, we'll still remain

a successful seven hour spacewalk this
morning.

VO-NAT Two astronauts successfully
repaired a damaged solar panel - a
critical power source for the
International Space Station.
This was one of the most
dangerous spacewalk's ever attempted
because the crew needed to get right
next to the power grid pulsing with
more than 100 volts of electricity.
To avoid getting shocked one of
the spacewalker used an L-shaped Teflon
stick, wrapped with insulated tape to
get the job done.
The three astronauts are expected
to return to earth Wednesday.

points or less.
It was another nail biter today
in Charlottesville as the defending ACC
Champs from Wake Forest rolled into
Scott Stadium riding a 6 game winning
streak since starting the season oh and
two.

with Maurice Covington on this 39 yard
TD strike with 10 seconds left in the
second quarter to give the Hoos a 10-6
lead headed to halftime.
But Wake responded late in the
third quarter. Riley Skinner buys some
time with his feet, and then throws a
dart to Kenny Moore in the endzone and
the Demon Deacs had regained the lead
at 13-10.
A field goal made it a 6 point
game, but Virginia converted a key
fourth down late which led to this.
Mikell Simpson goes over from a couple
of yards out with just over 2 minutes
left. The PAT was good and it was
17-16 UVA.
Skinner got the Deacs in
position for a field goal try, but Sam
Swank's 48 yard attempt was wide right
by about three feet.

out nine other kids to win Red Robin's
Recipe Contest.
His dish is a burger on a
croissant with brie, potatoes, butter,

a cookbook that benefits the National
Center for Missing and Exploited
Children.
