grabs in our region this year, it was
the 9th District, from Floyd to
Pittsylvania Counties.
It was left open by the
retirement of Republican Allen Dudley,
and both major parties poured a lot of
money into the campaign.

with all the votes in, Franklin County
Supervisor Charles Poindexter is on his
way to Richmond, narrowly defeating
Eric Ferguson by about 700 votes. Jerry

Roanoke was 56 and the low was 45.An
area of high pressure will build in
from the west providing cold, dry,
gusty winds tonight. As air
temperatures fall into the 20s and 30s,
look for wind chill values (how it
feels to the skin) to be in the teens
(mountains) and 20's elsewhere. This
same high will move overhead Wednesday
evening. With diminishing winds and
clear skies, we'll see the coldest
night so far this week. Most areas will
wake to chilly 20s Thursday morning. A
disturbance may bring an isolated
shower Friday, but don't expect much.

Friends and family are
mourning a Salem man and woman who died
in a fire.

Fifty dogs rescued from a puppy
mill in Carroll County need homes...
Angels of Assisi in Roanoke
took them in and the staff is making
sure the dogs get some much needed
TLC....
The dogs will be spayed and
neutered, groomed, their teeth will be
cleaned and they'll get their
shots...making them completely
adoptable.
Because of all the extra
medical attention the adoption fee will
be slightly higher than the normal 80
dollars.

Chairman Dick Cranwell claims that the
