<< Good evening, I'm Meteorologist
Brent Watts in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. The high temperature today in
Roanoke was 48 and the low was 28.
Variably cloudy skies are forecast
through tonight as upper level energy
from the Ohio Valley rotates toward us.
Overnight lows won't be quite as cold
in the mid 30s. The weather maps are
still indicating a weak Alberta clipper
approaching the area Friday. As is
typical with "clipper systems", it'll
pass through quickly Friday, providing
more clouds than sunshine, and a chance
of a few light showers. Mountain snow
showers are also possible; mainly on
the western facing slopes of the
Greenbrier Valley, the Allegheny
Highlands and possibly the New River
Valley. The ground is still pretty
warm; so no accumulation is forecast -
just conversational. High temperatures
Friday will still be chilly - near 50.
The clipper is heading east of the area
by Saturday, with high pressure
returning from the midwest. The weekend
calls for a slight warming trend with
mostly to partly sunny skies. Dry
conditions with warming temperatures
are forecast into early next week. Get
the latest weather forecast and radar
imagery anytime on our website,

the Hokies have lost a dozen straight
games to the Seminoles.
The outcomes of the games haven't
changed over the years, but the gap
between the talent levels of the two
schools has decreased considerably from
those early days of the Beamer era.

Afterwards, we're allowed into a
place many rarely get to see. This is
the referees lounge, where officials
get their beepers and a bag of full of
footballs.
Here, the refs test the air pressure
of the balls before the game.
((NAT SOUND OF OPENING GATE clip 215

((NAT SOUND OF CHEERING, clip 218,

30 minutes later, we're allowed to
tag along as the refs go to meet with
Coach Beamer. This week, it's very
brief.
A hour before kick-off, traffic is
backed up and fans start to enter the
stadium in droves.
By 11:45, a group of coaches is
getting in the elevator to head to the
booth above the field.
The stands are full and shortly after

What is YOUR carbon footprint?
Carbon dioxide naturally blankets the
Earth and keeps it warm enough to live
on.

VO-NAT But over the past century,
excessive greenhouse gases have caused
heat to get trapped in the lower
atmosphere. The result? A warming
