Prosecutors in Las Vegas have lined up
their big guns to make sure their case
against OJ Simpson goes to trial
As many as eight witnesses, including
three of Simpson s former
co-defendants,
are expected to testify against him in
a preliminary hearing over the next two
days.
The former NFL star and two others face
twelve felony charges in connection
with an alleged armed robbery and
kidnapping of two sport memorabilia
dealers
two months ago.
(TMZ tape PRE SUPERED)
(OJ): "Don't let nobody out of this
room! Motherf-----S! Think you can
steal
my s--- and sell it?"
(unknown): "No."
No one denies a chaotic confrontation
took place in a Vegas hotel room;
however Simpson claims he was
retrieving items that belonged to him
and
insists no guns were involved. But
the other men in the room are expected
to
testify that not only were guns there,
but Simpson himself asked one of them
to bring firearms.
(Standup/Manuel Gallegus)
Still, the credibility of the men
involved may be questionable. All of
the
former co-defendants all have criminal
records and the defense will attempt to
prove they ll say anything in exchange
for generous plea bargain deals.
Most experts predict this case will go
to trialso defense attorneys are not
expected to call any witnesses at this
hearingin essence choosing not to show
their cards before they have to.
And Simpson, according to a close
friend, believes they re throwing the
book
at him in Vegas because they think he
got away with murder years ago.

Another toy recall and this one may be
the most bizarre yet.
The Chinese made toy being pulled is
the popular Aqua Dots.
The concern isn't over lead paint, it
turns out the little dots are covered
in
a chemical similar to the date rape
drug G-H-B. :15
(SOT-Julie Vallesse/CPSC Spokesperson)
"IF A CHILD INGESTS THEM THE GLUE TURNS
INTO A TOXIC SUBSTANCE. IT'S VERY
SERIOUS WE WANT PARENTS, VERY MUCH, TO
HEED THIS WARNING." :11
Two U-S children slipped into a coma
after swallowing the dots.... they've
since recovered.
(Sydney, Australia)
Three kids in Australia also had to be
hospitalized including this little girl
who is now feeling better. :10
(SOT-Charlotte Lehane/Swallowed Dots)
"I HOPE THEY GO OFF THE MARKET SO
LITTLE CHILDREN WON'T EAT THEM, SO NO
MORE
ACCIDENTS HAPPEN WITH THEM." :08
(STANDUP: Pauline Chiou/CBS NEWS/New
York, NY)
Like other stores Toys R US and has
already pulled the product off it's
shelves.
That's likely to hurt sales since the
company had listed aqua dots as one of
the 15 hottest toys of the holiday
season. :11
(NATS)(TV COMMERCIAL - SUPER ALREADY
BURNED IN)
The popularity of Aqua Dots may be part
of the problem.
It's not clear why the toxic coating
was substituted for the safe version
normally used.... but there is a
significant difference in price between
the
two chemicals. :12
(NATS)
This recall is just the latest in a
seemingly endless string that has
parents
wondering what toys 'are' safe. :06
(SOT-Janet Larson/Parent)
"YOU DEFINETELY HAVE TO BE CAREFUL SO
I'M STICKING WITH NAMES THAT HAVE BEEN
AROUND A LONG TIME." :07
Parents around the world will have to
do the same.... this popular toy was
distributed in some 40 countries.
