soldiers from Headquarters Company
returned home today.

welcome the troops home.

Some families couldn't wait until
the soldiers got inside and greeted
their loved ones as they got off the

Kosovo for eight years.

mysterious illness.

the perfect example of how to handle a
chaotic situation.

The fire broke out in a bedroom
on the second floor of the home on
Woodbrook Drive in Roanoke County.

The smoke detector went
off, and one of three young children
home at the time yelled: "fire. "

The fire chief gives the
mother an "A-plus" for getting out so
quickly, and he points out how valuable
smoke detectors are.

It took less than 30
minutes to put the fire out and
investigators are investigating the
cause.

pointed a gun at a student at Virginia
Tech last night.

A student told police he parked
his car at Lane Stadium when he noticed
a man next to a red vehicle parked two
spots away holding a small black hand
gun.

When the man saw the student look
at the gun, he pointed it at him.

The man then got into the red car
and drove toward Airport Road.

A high-tech team of crooks
apparently managed to produce
counterfeit cards- -using legitimate

names and card numbers- -then selling
them to third-parties in several parts
of the country.

wiped out her 70-year old mother's bank
balance.

The government deposits a check
in Mom's account on the first of the
month. November 2nd, the charges
started showing up ... all in Florida.

losses in this one area, it's not
unique to Henry County.

the life of a Hillsville woman.

around 10 this morning.

These are pictures from the
Hillsville Fire Department.

Police say Barbara Jett was
headed South when she ran off the road
and lost control of her car.

Her vehicle ended up "sideways"
in the Northbound lane.

That's when it was hit on the
passenger side by a tractor trailer.

Police say Jett died instantly.

Virginian Railway station went up in
flames, efforts to restore the Roanoke
landmark are gaining momentum.

2001. A homeless man started a fire to
keep warm, but the flames quickly
spread out of control.

Today, veterans of the Virginian
Railway were on hand for the

from Nigeria, had arthroscopic surgery
yesterday on his left knee to repair
