the unusual symptoms reported by some
people.
That's the word from Roanoke
County school administrators after
recent tests were performed at William
Byrd High School.
Recently several students
complained of an illness that caused
unexplained twitching.

8th grader brought a weapon to school
today, but they won't confirm or deny
that it was a gun.
The student goes to Benjamin
Franklin Middle School.
Authorities say they were alerted
after several tips came in.
They took the student into
custody this afternoon and later the
child was was released to his parents.
It's unclear right now what type
of criminal action the teen could face.
The school was unavailable for
comment.

Police say Steven Friday, who is
a freshman, was involved in a big fight
in Blacksburg early Sunday morning.

later, in another incident, guns were
fired at a Chasewood Downs apartment
along Appalachian Drive.
Police say there were seven
rounds from a 9 millimeter gun and a
single shotgun blast to the building.
Three male Tech students were in
the apartment at the time.
No one was hurt... and police
didn't arrest anyone in that case.

It was inspired by Martinsville
native Marine Corporal Jonathan

ago during an ambush in Al-anbar, Iraq.
His father Darrell told the crowd

fell apart and eventually he turned to

High pressure will keep temperatures
well above normal over the next several
days. A disturbance will travel

The Virginia Tech Hokies host
Miami this Saturday, but really the
only thing football fans in the
Commonwealth are worried about is the
game coming up in two - the battle with
UVA on Thanksgiving weekend.

We have just learned that the
Battle for the Commonwealth Cup will
kickoff at Noon that Saturday at Scott
Stadium and the game will be televised
by one of the ESPN networks.
The UVA-Tech game has never meant
more than it does this season. This
November 24th game is a winner take all
for the Coastal division title - even
if the Hokies lose to Miami this
Saturday.

home this weekend taking on the Miami
Hurricanes in a game that means
everything and nothing at all.
Tech would like nothing better
than to beat two Florida teams in the
same season and enhance their bowl
profile, but in reality the only game
that matters is that UVA game
Thanksgiving weekend - which is now a
winner take all battle for the Coastal
division title.
And speaking of titles, tonight
we turn the clockback to 2004 - Tech's
first year in the ACC - when Miami
meant everything and the ACC title was
settled - not in a championship game -
but on the final weekend of the regular
season.

appropriate that we return to the regal
and rusted stage of Tech's first big
splash in the ACC.
During Tech's walk through on the eve
of that 2004 season ending clash with
Miami Frank Beamer surveyed the place
where the likes of Namath and Flutie
had left with their hands raised in
victory. Little did he know he would
be doing the same 24 hours later.
Bryan Randall, who later win ACC player
of the year honors, completed 11 of 19
passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns
including this one in the first half to
tight end Jeff King.
By Miami got right back in the game
with the help of one-time Tech recruit
Tyrone Moss. His TD tied the game at
7-all in the second quarter. But Miami
managed only 51 yards rushing on 22
attempts for the game and the Hokies
led 10-to-7 at the half on the strength
of Brandon Pace's 45 yard field goal.
The second half was all about
playmakers making play when they were
needed. Randall's scrambling, Cedric
Humes running - which accounted for 110
yards on the day, and Randall's
eventual game winning TD strike to
Eddie Royal were all crucial parts of
the winning equation.
But Tech fans will always remember
King's clutch third down catch that
kept the clock rolling in the fourth
quarter, and Jim Davis' relentless
pressure on quarterback Brock Berlin on
Miami's final drive.
Beamer gets his own Joe Namath moment
in the Orange Bowl as the Hokies win
theit 8th straight game an ACC title
and earn a trip to the Sugar Bowl.

And some people in Parma, Ohio think
that just might be what's happening at
their local gas station.

Security cameras caught a blue image
hovering around the gas pumps last
Sunday.
The image would stay in place for a
half hour before flying off. It
reappeared later.
The story of the so called ghost has
been good for business as people have
come into the store to watch the tape.
Some people say they think it is an
angel. One man claims the station is
built over an Indian reservation.
The image drew alot of attention, but
now it, much like lower gas prices, has
disappeared... probably not to be seen
again.
