The U-S Attorney s office claims Bonds
falsely told a federal grand jury that
he never knowingly took illegal drugs
from his personal trainer, Greg
Anderson
or that Anderson ever injected him
with steroids.
TRACK: Bonds lawyer, John Burris, is
surprised by the indictment, but says
There s been an effort to get Barry for
a long time. I m curious what evidence
they have now that they didn t have
before .
TRACK: The U-S Attorney s office says,
during the four-year criminal
investigation, evidence was obtained
including positive tests for the
presence
of steroids for Bonds and other
athletes. The 43-year-old has
repeatedly
denied ever knowingly using
performance-enhancing drugs, and his
tests by
Major League Baseball have never turned
up positive.

TRACK: In August, Bonds passed Hank
Aaron to become the career home-run
leader finishing the season with
762-long balls. Soon after, his team,

San Francisco Giants, released him. He
s now a free agent. The controversy
has long sparked debate over the

professional and amateur levels. Even
the White House weighed in Thursday
President Bush s spokesman saying this
is a sad day for baseball.

Roanoke Police report three

struck by gun fire.
While authorities know which

Commonwealth's Attorney Gregory
Goad said it's more like 89 dogs, and
it's now part of the investigation into
the alleged puppy mill.
Last week, hundreds of dogs and
puppies were given up by breeder Junior
Horton.
He kept 200 of them.
Goad said a miscalculation could
be the explanation - because puppies
were being born everyday at Horton's
and he continued to sell dogs.

<< Good evening, I'm Meteorologist
Robin Reed in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. The high temperature today in
Roanoke was 63 but that is a little
misleading since it occurred at 2am.
Since then, the temperatures have
dropped drastically. Locally tonight, A
cold high pressure system will dominate
the region through Friday. This will
bring colder than average temperatures
and gusty northwest winds. Some gusts
may reach 40-50mph in the higher
elevations. Low temperatures will
tumble into the 30s tonight, with wind
chills in the 20s. Mountain snow
showers will also continue through the
night, with flurries elsewhere. These
will taper off as we go into Friday,
with increasing sunshine. The weekend
gets a touch warmer, with highs back
into the 50s by Saturday. A weak
clipper will bring a few more clouds

Roanoke Underground, the unusual places
beneath the city.
And our story wouldn't be
complete without taking a closer look
at Roanoke's storm drains.

city, and the help of the Roanoke Fire

technical rescue team travelled
alongside, while others tracked our
movements from the street above.

these precautions to protect our
safety, and satisfy OSHA regulations
for operating in a confined space.

STAND-UP BRIDGE
This is one of the city's larger
storm drains... with stone block sides
and a brick ceiling. It stays wet most
of the time. Today we found four to six
inches of water here.
We also found a novelty license
plate, a string of Christmas lights and
plenty of small fish...

Members of the technical rescue
team treated the excursion as a
training exercise... We walked in about
a thousand yards, and stayed under
ground for about an hour before making
our exit at the point where we
started.>>
Roanoke authorities insist the
hazards are real.. they don't want
people venturing into the city's storm
drains, and we agreed not to say
exactly where we went.

been able to open a window on a few
places here in Roanoke that many people
have never seen.

50 billion dollar bill for the Iraq war
that would require President Bush to
start bringing troops home in coming
weeks with a goal of ending combat by
December next year.
The measure is unlikely to pass

Defense Secretary Robert
Gates argues if money to fund the war
doesn't come soon.... operations at
some Army bases could end by
mid-February.

Henry Head Basketball Coach Bob Johnson
has decided to retire effective
immediately. Johnson is stepping aside
due to Cancer of the Kidney, which will
require him to travel to Texas for
treatment, for large portions of the
upcoming season.
2 Weeks ago at the Annual ODAC
Media Day in Salem, Johnson spoke to
News 7 Sports about just how long he
planned on continuing to coach the
Wasps.

advice for drivers...one allow plenty
of space between your car and the
