operation in Hillsville.
They say 100 dogs are missing.

The Carroll County Commonwealth's
Attorney said it's more like 89 dogs,
and he said that's now part of the
investigation into the alleged puppy
mill.

Last Thursday Last week we showed you the
:00 hundreds of dogs and puppies that were
given up by breeder Junior Horton.
He was legally over his limit of
animals.
The Humane Society called it a
puppy mill , and said it was the
largest animal rescue in U-S History.
The dogs were sent to dozens of
adoption agencies on the east coast,
but some of those shelters never got
them.
I spoke with John Snyder with the
Humane Society over the phone today.
He said they want to know why the
numbers don't add up.

Horton's kennel manager said they
kept 200 dogs and puppies, and that the
Humane Society may have miscounted.
Commonwealth's Attorney Gregory
Goad said that could be an explanation
- because puppies were being born
everyday at Horton's and he continued
to sell dogs.

was broken up in Grayson County.
Authorities say they took 24 dogs
from Loretta Parsons' home on Sugar
Shack Road.
Eight of them were puppies.
The Pugs and Boston terriers were
kept in wire cages.
Those involved in the rescue say
the cages were filthy.
Parsons faced 56 charges.

16th.
There are now two proposals for
the classrooms.
University officials say the task
force is taking its time deciding
because of the role it will play in
Tech's healing process.
The first proposal would be to
leave it as an Engineering Department.
The second would turn it into a
center for violence prevention and
peace studies.
A final plan is expected December
7th.

the legal battle over Randolph
College's plan to sell some of the art
from its Maier Museum.

Last Week The school wants to auction off
:14 four paintings later this month to
boost its endowment.
But a group of students and alumnae
sought to block that sale ... a circuit
judge granted them an injunction last
week.
They had until 4:30 this afternoon
to post a 10-million dollar bond or the
injunction would "not" go into effect.
The group had appealed that bond
to the state Supreme Court, but a clerk
says "no" action has been taken on the
case and the bond has not been posted.

Coach Bob Johnson has decided to retire
effective immediately. The reason for
the change is that Johnson is suffering
from Cancer of the Kidney.
Just 2 Weeks ago today, Johnson
Spoke to News 7 Sports about how long
he planned on continuing to Coach.
