ssmallshaw@wdbj7.com Jean, it's the latest round in what Lynchburg has been a back-and-forth case of
decisions and appeals ...

The bottom line is the sale of the
artwork -- which was supposed to start
next Monday -- is not going to happen
until December -- IF it happens at all.

CHANNEL=B VO NAT

VO NAT The school wants to sell four
paintings ... the most valuable one a
George Bellows piece called "Men of the
Docks" ... in order to raise tens of

millions of dollars to boost its
financial situation ... the sale
of the paintings is expected to raise
anywhere from 35 to 50 million dollars.

LYNCHBURG SUPER *CG locator Lynchburg

File Tape A group of students and alumnae
got an injunction last week to block
the sale, but they missed yesterday's
deadline to post a 10-million dollar
bond.

The Supreme Court today lowered
that bond to 1 million dollars and gave
them a deadline of December 3rd to come
up with the money or the injunction
would be lifted.

School officials issued a
statement saying -quote- "While we are
disappointed in the Supreme Court's
decision, we will abide by the court's
ruling and delay the sale of paintings.
We continue to believe the College has
the right and the responsibility to
make the decisions that are in the best
interest of the College as a whole."

If opponents can raise the money

and keep the injunction in place, it's
likely the sale of the paintings would
be delayed at least six months.

(END SOT) IT'S THE HOT SPOT FOR PIZZA IN BEIJING.

And ruling the kitchen 24 year old

American Olav Kristofferson. When
he first came to China, he didn t speak

a word of Chinese.

(NAT SOUND -- KRO TALKING TO CUSTOMERS
in CHINESE)

SOT: Olav Kristofferson/Pizza shop

owner. (00:00:14-18)

Didn't speak the language ...didn't
know about the culture and that was

interesting to me.

Kro as he likes to be called...was also
interested in making a buck...in 3

years he's opened two KRO S NEST pizza
parlors, 6 sandwich shops and a cafi.

SOT: Olav Kristofferson/Pizza shop

owner (00:00:28-31)

Over here, you can take about 40 to 50
thousand US and open a restaurant.

(CELIA HATTON BRIDGE) (00:00:32-38)

Kro s nest pizza is thought to be some
of the best Beijing has to offer and

that could be due to its international
list of ingredients... cheese from

France and Australia olives from Italy
locally grown vegetables and of course,

pepperoni and spices from the States.

It's a winning combo.

(CHINESE WOMAN, speaking in Mandarin
with English voiceover)

I think it s delicious, she says.

(AMERICAN GUY, in English)

Lots of cheese. Lots of good stuff.

Kro s staff are more impressed with his
good Chinese.

(YOUNG FEMALE EMPLOYEE, in Mandarin
with English voiceover)

He s really fluent, says this worker.
We can t even talk behind his back!

But they still help him polish his
language skills...and he helps them
polish

this.

Not an easy task.

(Nats: Celia tossing dough)

So what makes a young guy from Atlanta
brave enough to open a pizza parlor in

China? He took a leap of faith.

SOT: Olav Kristofferson/Pizza shop

owner

Everybody s got a great idea. It s just
whether or not you want to follow up

on it.

Kro doesn t miss the U.S...but does
long for a good cup of battery acid

coffee. Something to help wash down the
pizzaand keep him spinning

dreams....one pie at a time.
