"divided" than ever.

now allegations of FRAUD.

to be her... and requested a "firehouse
primary" to select the party's mayor

be closer to finding out "what" may be
causing that mysterious illness at
William Byrd High School.

The Health Department confirmed
"Friday night".... leaders plan to
meet with the families in the next few

days to give them the latest
information.

We're told a public statement by

either Monday or Tuesday.

a robbery.

It happened last night around ten
at the Exxon at 3007 Riverside Drive.

A clerk said the two suspects who
fled with an undisclosed amount of
money seemed to be between the ages of
18 and 20 and had cloths over their
faces.

One had a handgun.

Amanda Payne of "Hillsville" has
been charged as a "principle" to first
degree murder... and she faces two
"conspiracy" counts.

Burke... was arrested Wednesday.

He's charged with two counts of
first degree murder.

in Fancy Gap early Tuesday morning.

A "third" teen was wounded.

The Sheriff has not released a
MOTIVE for the killings but says the
people inside the home were "targeted"
by Burke.

Friday marked the first day of
the Salvation Army's... Red Kettle
Campaign

It's a tradition that's been
going on for nearly "116 years".

Some say other financial
obligations like high gas prices and
the tragedy following Virginia Tech...
could affect the AMOUNT of money people
give this year.

One factor that does affect the
amount of donations is the WEATHER.

collected more than 200-thousand
dollars from the Red Kettle Campaign.

During the holidays... about a
"quarter" of the donations come from
the kettles.

Most of the money collected is

A fast paced, moisture starved cold
front moves in from the west tonight.
Clouds should gather for a brief time
Saturday night, with clearing skies by
Sunday morning. Thanks in part to the
cloud deck, temperatures won't be as
cold tonight with lows near 40.

Sunday calls for mostly to partly sunny
skies and highs again return to the mid
50s with a light breeze. More clouds
return Sunday night (maybe with pockets
of light drizzle near the Blue Ridge)
as a weak northeast breeze develops.
We'll likely see more clouds Sunday
night than anything, as overall the air
remains very dry.

The first half of next week looks dry -
good for holiday traveling! Our next
cold front scheduled for Wednesday
night into Thursday (Thanksgiving)
could provide some rain showers to the
area. It's possible most of the energy
from this system will stay to our
north, with stronger storms to our
south which would rob our area of
better rain chances... we'll watch it!

Thousands of people spent another
night in emergency shelters across
Bangladesh Friday, as clean up efforts
began after a Tropical Cyclone roared
across the country's southwestern coast
Thursday.

The storm leveled thousands of
flimsy huts, uprooted trees,
electricity and telephone poles, and
destroyed crops and fish farms.

It's estimated the storm killed
at least 11-hundred people.

The storm had winds of 150 miles
per hour, and a storm surge of four
feet high that swept through low-lying
areas and some offshore islands,
leaving them under water.

A bit of relief Friday for the
seven million people who call
water-starved Atlanta, Georgia home,
after federal workers started slowing
the rate of water being released from
the region's main reservoir.

The plan will provide a five
percent reduction in the flow of water
from Lake Lanier, the main water source
for the region.

police custody this morning after going
on joy-ride ...that turned into a fatal
accident.

Virginia Supreme Court has intervened.

injunction last week to prevent the
college from auctioning off the artwork
... but they missed Thursday's deadline
to post a 10-million dollar bond.

Friday, the state's high court
lowered that bond to 1 million dollars

money.

The college says it's
disappointed by the ruling... but will

asking questions.

"alarming" increase in the number of

fatal accidents.

This week, the State Police,
V-DOT, DMV and Triple A are launching a

By posting the message at
interstate rest areas, they hope
drivers will look in the mirror and
consider how they can improve their
safety on the road.

"helicopter" is helping to get the
project off the ground.

A crew from New Mexico is lifting
pieces of "drilling" equipment to

from existing roads.

V-DOT is collecting soil and rock
samples..., as the agency develops
plans for new "climbing lanes"...
between mile marker 128 and 119.

The Department wants to warn
drivers about the activity, so they
aren't "alarmed" or distracted by the

State officials say the elevator

code... but it made an exception for
Tech's stadium.

Getting in and out of an elevator...
should be routine.

But it was pretty scary for five people
at a Seattle Hospital last month.

This animation shows how a suspension
rope snapped on an Isis elevator. It
rose 20 feet. The other ropes broke and
the car fell several feet before the
safeties kicked in.

Isis elevators are made by
ThyssenKrupp. It's a new type of

elevator that doesn't require a machine
room. ThyssenKrupp says it saves space
and energy, by using Kevlar ropes
instead of steel cables. 11-hundred of
them are used in the u-s.

An Isis elevator was installed near the
South tower in Lane Stadium two years
ago. It's only used on game days...
that's about 8 a year. It's the only
Isis elevator in any state-owned or
operated building.

Fans don't use the elevator. Its
mostly for catering staff and coaches.

Bert Jones is with the Virginia
Department of General Services, that's
the state agency enforcing building
codes.

He says Lane Stadium's Isis elevator
is safe.
