300- students from attending class.

This comes after several students
reported an illness which caused them
to twitch.
At a press conference last
Monday- the school system revealed
surface tests done in the kitchen and

The Health Department is expected
to release what they've found in a
public statement tomorrow or Tuesday.

the water. One peron was suffering
from heart problems. Another had
disappeared into the engine
compartment. A third was unconscious
on the steps to the upper deck.

Virginia for a prison escapee.
Alonzo Erwin Logan is considered
armed and
dangerous.
He broke out of the Dillwyn
Correctional Center in
Buckingham County late Friday night.
Authorities recovered a van in
Henrico County that they believe Logan
stole in Buckingham.
They also believe the prisoner
broke into someone's home and stole a
shotgun.
They say he left a suicide note
in his Bible vowing not to go back to
prison.

The Department of Defense
announced today Sergeant Mason L. Lewis
from Gloucester died Friday in Baghdad
as a result of a non-combat training
accident.
No specifics on what type of
training but an investigation has been
launched.

Tomorrow morning the University
is testing its on-campus siren system
at 10 o'clock.
Even though the sirens are *on*
campus it might be heard throughout
Blacksburg.
The system was first introduced
in April 2006.
Last week, the school tested its
message alert system sending text
messages and emails to 19-thousand
students, faculty and staff.

Wednesday will be the forecast high
temperatures. Records may be threatened
by Wednesday. (Roanoke's forecast high

73/1991.) Highs Monday will be in the
low 60s; mid 60s Tuesday, and close to
70 Wednesday! A broad southwest flow
will be to credit for the warm up, just
ahead of a strong cold front. Mostly to

Growers Association reports this years
trees weren't ruined by the drought -
But Christmases to come are
another story.

farm, lost nearly half of this year's
seedlings which means trees that would
be harvested and sold 10 years from now
could be in trouble.
As far as the price of trees go
this season, the association reports
it's possible high gas prices could

The Craig County Recreation and
Conservation Association broke ground
on its million dollar project today.

huge showdown looming on Saturday in
Charlottesville, and both teams will be
highly ranked.
The Hokies are now 8th in both
the Coaches and the A-P polls, while
Virgnia is 16th in the AP and 15th in
the Coaches rankings.
The Cavs will face a Tech offense
that seems to have gelled in the past
three weeks, racking up 111 points and
more than 12 hundred yards in 3 league
wins.
Five of the Hokies 12 TD passes
have come in that same time frame, due
in part to a resurgent group of
receivers that is finally living up to
its hype.

the NFL, and the Panthers--Packers
match up in Green Bay pitted the two
oldest starting quarterbacks in league
history--44 year old Vinny Testaverde
and 38 year old Brett Favre.
