over to U-S marshals in Richmond.

August The Atlanta Falcons quarterback
is being held at the Northern Neck
Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia.
He turned himself in just before
noon yesterday.
Vick has not been sentenced for
his guilty plea to a federal dog
fighting charge.
That is supposed to happen on
December 10th.
Vick's Attorney says his
surrender demonstrates Vick's
willingness to accept responsibility
for his actions.
He faces up to 5 years in prison
and still has state charges pending
against him.

Cross held a blood drive, pitting

The Red Cross says this is an
important time of year for donations,
because of the number of accidents that

A woman that knows all about how
platelets save lives...just ask her 3
year old son.
Michelle Abbot was the guest
speaker at a donor appreciation dinner.
Her son Shane had a congenital
birth defect and needed platelets
eleven separate times right after he
was born.
The American Red Cross wanted to
recognize nearly 50 donors for giving
the "max" 24 times per year. So they
held a dinner at the Roanoke Civic
Center.

for a robbery suspect.
It happened last night around
8:40 at the Berryman Market on Berryman
Avenue.
Authorities say a man wearing a
hood and with his face covered, entered
the store displaying a handgun and
demanding money from the registers.
He got away on foot with an
undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was injured.

Lewis was the passenger in an S-U-V hit
by a car at the intersection of
Troutland Avenue and Old Stevens Road
Sunday afternoon.
Lewis died at Carilion
Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was 26.

thanks to two local folks.

Giles County native David Huffman
presented an 11- foot Fraser Fir
Christmas tree to First Lady Anne
Holton yesterday...
An honor that comes with winning
the Christmas Tree Growers
Association's grand champion award.
It was the Huffman family's first
trip to Capitol Square.
Their tree will adorn the
ballroom inside the mansion.
Meanwhile, Sue Huffman... no
relation to David... won the wreath-
making competition.
This is the Craig County native's
eighth win.
The First Family doesn't have any
tree decorating traditions, but Anne
Holton says every year her family makes
a gingerbread house together.
