and the Roanoke Regional Airport is
expecting 1400 passengers today.

Most flights were on time but
there was one cancellation at the
Roanoke Regional Airport...people in
this long line had to be re-routed when
their plane to Atlanta had a mechanical

The Western Virginia Regional
jail will be located on 42 acres of
land just off Interstate 81 in the
Dixie Caverns area.
The project has many
environmental features including a roof
that will capture water to be used for
the laundry.
The jail also has a vaccum
plumbing system, built in the ceiling
not the ground, to cut back on water
use.
Those who run the jail say an
environmental friendly building costs
more upfront but saves money down the
line.

has opened in Salem.

situation.

percent of the people who park downtown
are monopolizing more than 60 percent
of the available spaces ... that comes
from downtown workers who leave their
cars in two-hour free parking spots and
move them during the day.
That's led to a perception among

hard to find a space.

Apparently a third vehicle was
involved.

charged with hit and run.
He's accused of stealing a Jeep,
and then wrecking it into a biker.

the D-M-V, a third vehicle - an S-U-V

half a dozen people in Franklin County
for making moonshine.
The still was actually busted a
year and a half ago in Halifax County.
The government says it was owned
and operated by Jody Alton Smith,
Senior.
The illegal distillery was such a
sophisticated enterprise, the site was
"protected" by four surveillance
cameras hooked up to a time-lapse video
recorder.

Richmond.

Governor Tim Kaine recently cut
275- thousand dollars for five-
programs including one in Lynchburg.
He says abstinence only programs
don't work.
But Lieutenant Governor Bill
Bolling says not so fast.
Last year the Virginia Department
of Health issued a press release saying
"teens in Virginia... are receptive to
messages about abstaining from sex."
Kaine cut the programs in an
effort to help balance the state
budget.

(Croh-voe) just like humans the disease
is becoming more common.
Diabetes affects about one in
every 200 cats and about 1 in every 500
dogs.

The vet says if you notice these
symptoms get your pet tested...they
include increased thirst, increased
urination or accidents, weight loss,
and reduced activity.
She also says dogs and cats over
eight year old should get checked
yearly.
For some pets like Missy it will
mean a daily insulin shots and a new
diet to keep the disease under control.
