GRAPHIC=FFE Good evening everybody and

welcome to Friday Football Extra - and
our Regional Championship show on this
Holiday weekend.

We appreciate you giving us part
of your Thanksgiving time off as we get
set to serve up the highlights from
seven of tonight's regional title tilts
as we stretch out from Buffalo Gap to
Gretna to Rural Retreat.
GRAPHIC=G/WYTHE/GILES

Most teams elected to stay on
their normal Friday night schedule, but
in Region C - GIles and George Wythe
decided to take advantage of the sun
light and the warmer temperatures in
Pearisburg.

George Wythe vs. Giles And we begin the only matinee of :00 the day - in Region C, Division Two as
the reigning regional champion Spartans
hosted the Maroons. Now remember back
in the regular season on September
21st, Giles rolled into Wytheville and
handed the Maroons their only loss of

the season - a 28-to-7 drubbing. But
today, the roles were exactly reversed.

Steve Ragsdale could only watch
and worry as Larry McCoy got an early
TD for the Maroons and then quarterback
Jacob Sharitz and Devin Smith connected
on this pass in the right flat and the
nice move by Smith would get the ball
inside the Giles' five.

Then Sharitz and senior Seth
White would run the option pitch to
perfection on the other side of the
field and the Maroons were on top
14-to-nothing.

Giles would try to get something
on the board before the break, but
Sheldon Douthat's pass over the middle
is picked off Brandon Atwell and George
Wythe hit the half with a 14 to nothing
lead on the stunned Spartans.

It stayed 14-all until the fourth
quarter when Douthat and Garrison Ellis
connected on this deep pass play down
the middle of the field. The Spartans
would score 14 points in the final 7
and a half *CG ffefinal George Wythe minutes to tie it - but George Wythe 20 emerges with the Region C, division two Giles title in overtime beating Giles

17 20-to-17.

GRAPHIC=GRETNA/GOOCHLAND The other big Division Two game

tonight was in Region B where the
Gretna Hawks hosted the Goochland
Bulldogs - the defending state champs
in this division.

But Goochland is much more than
just a state title holder - the
Bulldogs came into tonight riding a 25
game winning streak - and don't forget
it was Goochland that ended Gretna's
season last season on this same Friday
night pitching a 6-to-nothing shutout
west if Richmond.

CHANNEL=B VO-NAT
VO-NAT

*CG ffeloc Gretna

Goochland vs. Gretna So not surprisingly tonight - the :00 Hawks were unified and determined in
their effort to deliver a little
Pittsylvania County payback.

And watch the Hawks get busy on
the opening kickoff as Theo Miller

fields the kick on the Gretna side of
the field. He will one great block
early and then just abuse the Goochland
kick coverage team with his speed and
he spilts several defenders in route to
a game opening touchdown. The Hawks
take a six to nothing lead.

Goochland seemed to panic a
little as evidenced by the off-balance
D.J. Coles' heave to the goal line into
double coverage that is picked off by
Kevin Dale. That was just one of many
Goochland miscues on this night.

M.J. Cox will then carry the mail
right into the teeth of the Gretna
defense and fumble the ball right into
the hands of Gretna's Kevin Dale, who
make the recovery.

Unfortunately, Theo was hurt his
left ankle on that play and had to
leave the game.

The Hawks would make the Bulldogs
pay for all that - as Nick Miller hits
Stephon Jennings on the nice slant-in
moving the ball all the way down to the
one.

On the very next play - Miller
will crash in from the one to put the
Hawks in control on top 12-to-nothing.

*CG ffefinal Goochland

14 Tech bound D.J. Coles could only Gretna do so much as the Hawks walk the walk 52 tonight - disposing of the defending
state champs 52-to-14.

In Region Three - Division Three
action tonight - two teams with very

Bees hosted the run-oriented Cougars
from Stuarts Draft up in Augusta
County.

*CG ffeloc Campbell Co.

Stuarts Draft vs. Brookville It was full moon tonight at
Stinger Stadium and the temperatures
were dropping fast.

In the first quarter the visiting
Cougars will let Bron Moore hand off to
Jordan Taylor, who cuts up the middle
and goes 17 yards through the Bees
defense for the first down.

Seven plays later, Moore hands
off to Isaiah Miller, who pushes his
way for the one yard touchdown and
Stuarts Draft takes a 7-to-nothing
lead.

Brookville's will get right back
in it as Logan Thomas fakes the
handoff, keeps the ball, and he will
then bring it to the near sideline,
break a tackle and eventually go 62
yards down the sideline. HIs second
big TD run in as many weeks and the

Bees tie it at 7-all.

In the second quarter - Stuarts
Draft and Miller would get busy again
as he takes the snap and passes to
Terreal Taylor. The two will connect
for 35 yards on the pitch and catch and
move the ball down into Brookville
territory.

Moore would later hand off to
Miller and this time he goes right up
the middle for the 18 yard touchdown
and the Draft takes a 14-to-7 lead on
the Bees. *CG ffefinal Stuarts Draft

20 Miller would then to move the Brookville rock deep downfield. He and Quincy 28 Diggs will connect on the play, but the

GRAPHIC=BATH/RURAL RETREAT Let's now turn our attention back

Last week Bath had to travel 196

Bath Co. vs. Rural Retreat Hot Chocolate and Hot Coffee were :00 definitely the drinks of choice tonight
on the reservation.

Rural Retreat would draw first
blood as Justin Stoneman hands off to
David Harrison, who breask through the
line, finds open field and no one will

catch until he down shifts in the
endzone. It's a 68 yard TD and the
Indians lead 6-to-nothing.

Still in the first, Bath County
will answer with one of its own as John
Barden connects Stefan Brown. He makes
the catch and falls into the endzone to
tie the game at 6-all.

Bath would keep coming in the
first as Barden fires a shot at Jim
King. It's a 6 yard TD toss and the
Chargers have a 12 to six lead after a
quarter. That would hold up until the
fourth.

In the final period, Rural
Retreat's Harrison will pick up the
final yard of the drive to tie the game
at 12-all early in the fourth quarter.

But with less than a minute to go
in the game on a fourth and long,
Barden will connect with King again,
for a huge first down as they keep the
drive alive for the boys from Bath. *CG ffefinal Bath Co.

7-to-nothing Generals.

Gap would come right back as
Pickle Nuckols rolls in off left tackle
on the standup TD and the Bison tie

things up at 7-all.

Stanley Peerman - Cedric
Peerman's younger brother - would
better that by banging offf some
would-be tacklers and slicing his way
into the endzone to make it a 14-to-7
game in favor of William Campbell.

But the end of both halves killed
the Generals last. Travis Morris rolls
