Ridge Mall the entire day...some to

experience of taking part in one of the
busiest days of the year for retailers.
The 80-plus stores in the mall
were packed with those looking for a
good bargain or that special gift.

... Minhaj Akdhar...could hardly keep
up with the demand at his booth,
selling personalized Christmas
ornaments.
By noon... Akdhar says he had
sold close to 700 dollars worth of
merchandise.
Mall officials say...despite the
crowds... everything has gone smoothly.

traffic control outside the stores.

That's why it's important to buy the
right pair of shoes, well now a new
study says runners might be able to do
that for a whole lot less money than
they think.

Scottish researchers put high priced
running shoes, through some hi-tech
tests and compared them to lower cost
shoes.
They tested eight measures like impact
cushioning and support, as well as
overall comfort.
And guess what - shoes around 80
dollars often outperformed those over
150 dollars.

before passing it off in Lynchburg...to
their U-V-A counterparts.

long to get the ball to Scott Stadium
this morning.
It's all to raise money for
cancer research.
This is the fifth straight year
for the run. So far they've raised more
than 130-thousand dollars.

before being plucked to safety by
another passing cruise liner.
Chilean navy vessels in the area
lost sight of the stricken MS Explorer
last night, hours after the accident
near Antarctica's South Shetland

gone under completely.
No one was injured.
Diane Cartwright, the daugher of
one of those rescued from the MS
Explorer, says she's relieved that the
incident had a positive outcome.

forest fire near Monroe.

Mountain... was first spotted around
one o'clock Friday.
The fire is located in the
woods... behind Morris Orchards.. off

The rough terrain has made it
"difficult" for crews to reach it.

cut a line around the fire.
Brisk "wind" has also been
a problem.
Authorities estimate the
fire has burned about "ten" acres of
forest.
There aren't any buildings in
