a house fire this morning.

When they got there, they found
the back porch of the house in flames.
Julia P. Landes (LAND-IS) was
killed.
Landes was 85.
The cause of the fire is under

GRAPHIC=TECH The Virginia Tech Hokies jumped
up to the 5th spot in the Coaches poll
this week, tied with Kansas thanks to
their win over Virginia and the rash of
losses in front of them. The Hokies
are number 6 in the AP.
Tech is already getting focused
on its game this coming Saturday in
Jacksonville in the ACC title game.
It's a redemption game for the
Hokies in more ways than one.
Of course, there's the "payback
punch" the Hokies would love to deliver
to Boston College, and then there's a
little unfinished business for the
upperclassmen, who blew their only
other title game shot two years ago
against Florida State in the inaugural
ACC title game.

regular season one game short of their
goal of an ACC Championship.
Losing to Tech yesterday was a
tough pill for the Hoos to swallow, but
in the Big Picture it has still been an
incredible year for the Hoos.
They rebounded from last year's 5
and 7 campaign to win 9 games and they
are guaranteed of a bowl game - most
likely in Orlando in the Champs Sports
Bowl on Decmeber 28th.

avoid a three game losing skid today in
week 12 of the NFL season. The Skins
were in sunny Tampa, Florida to close
out this Thanksgiving weekend.

But Jason Campbell tried to rally the
troops. He finds Chris Cooley on this
39 yard touchdown strike to make the
score 19-10 Bucs.
But the turnover bug bit again
late in the 4th quarter. Ronde Barber

The former Virginia Cavalier and
Roanoke native is now Tampa's all time
leader in the interception category
with 32.
The Skins still had a shot,
