Danville while lying in her bed
Saturday morning.

Danville police were called to
the 800 block of Edmonds Street after a
report came in about several gunshots
being fired in the area.

Investigators believe someone

shot into the home.

Authorities tell us the girl was
taken to Danville Regional Medical
Center.

Among those out in the woods - a
group of war veterans from the Walter
Reed Army Medical center in Washington.

Some of these vets are amputees,
and normally their conditions would
prevent them from taking part.

But as News 7's Tim Saunders
shows us, a local group is helping
these men get back into the sport they
love.

(END SOT) these hunters.

Their day is only halfway over,

but they already have plenty to show
off.

That may not seem remarkable, but
Adam Peacock is facing a challenge most
hunters don't have to deal with.

in a wheelchair. Gotta use your hands
to move around and all that stuff."

Peacock is one of several men
visiting Halifax County from the Walter
Reed Army Medical Center.

With the help of the wounded
warrior program, they're getting to
enjoy a sport that might otherwise be
out of reach.

Andrew Hill was wounded by an
explosive in Afghanistan.

Thanks to this hunting trip, he's

learning to overcome his injuries.

things and get out there that you used
to think you couldn't do. You think
you're too hurt to be able to do
something like that, but you're able to

like this pop-up blind, hunters like

gun, and hunt like they normally do."

something back to these people who have

After just a few hours in the
woods, hunters say this experience is
already having a positive effect.

here and overcome their injuries and

still bag a deer, it does a lot for

Whether they walk away with a
deer or not, these hunters say they're
just thankful to have one more shot at
their favorite sport.

its doors -ice skaters in the Roanoke
Valley were forced to look for
somewhere to lace up their skates...
now they've found it.

transformed it's floor into a skating
rink.

The price...five dollars a person
plus two dollars for skates.

From the looks of it, a lot of
kids didn't mind putting down the video

games to take a few turns around the

and forced thousands of people to

evacuate in California is one step
closer to containment.

The fire started early Saturday
morning in Malibu and quickly grew to
about 5-thousand acres.

At its peak point- about
14-thousand people were evacuated, now
officials say about half of those
people are back in their homes.

Crews estimate about 25-percent
of the fire is contained.

They say decreased Santa Ana
winds are helping them battle the
blaze.

Investigators are trying to
determine the cause of the fire.

appears well under control, but
firefighters stayed there overnight to
make sure it remained that way.

The fire started Friday on
Tobacco Row Mountain.

The rough terrain made it
difficult for crews to reach, and brisk
winds added to their problems.

Authorities estimate flames
burned about 10 acres.

At last check this morning, the
fire was considered 90 percent
contained.

Consumer Watch Banner are being recalled after two-people
became sick -possibly with E.coli.

The Wisconsin company- American
Foods Group voluntarily made the
recall.

The products include coarse and
fine ground beef chuck, sirloin

and chop beef steak that were produced
on October 10th.

The meat was distributed to
retailers and distributors in seven
states including Virginia.

Consumer Watch Banner to tell you about..

A company in East Tennessee is
recalling cheese sold in Virginia and
six other states.

For the most part the cheese was
sold in gift baskets.

Sweetwater Valley Farms says it's
southern cheddar jack cheese could be
contaminated with dangerous bacteria.

So far, no reports of anyone
getting sick.

Most of the cheese went out
betweeen mid-September all the way
until this past week.
