traffic for much of the afternoon in
Lynchburg has now been cleaned up.

A traffic accident knocked
over a propane tank at the True Value
Hardware on Lakeside Drive.
The crash damaged the valves
and the tank could not be shut off.
Several adjacent businesses
and roads were closed along the
Lynchburg City/Bedford County line
while the gas dissipated.
The tank's now been removed
and the fire chief says traffic should
be getting back to normal soon.
No one was seriously injured.

jail.

evidence."
Shortly after the two year old's body
was found.. the child's biological
father and her paternal grandmother who
live in Ohio called Galveston police.
A visit from authorities over the
weekend confirmed their worst fears may

true.
Kimberly Trenor moved from Ohio to
Texas with Riley and a man she met over
the
internet and married in the summer.
When father started asking questions
she
claimed a social worker had taken the
child.
But a missing person's report was never
filed.

welcome to the Monday ticker.
While the coaches at Boston
College and Virginia Tech are getting
ready for a championship game, at least
two coaches are starting to search for
new jobs.
You always hear coaches sasy its
a fine line between winning and losing,
but I that's never really been the case
with Duke football.

:00 As a result head coach Ted Roof
was fired today.
Roof is a good guy, but he just
couldn't win any games much less enough
of them. Duke has lost 25 straight ACC
games, and the team has only won four
games in four years.
Roof's career record at Duke was
6-and- 45.

- but the other dismissal in the ACC
was anything but in many way.
Georgia Tech fired Chan Gailey
today

Gailey has never had a losing
record any season at Georgia Tech, but
he has had all kinds of problems
beating in-state rival Georgia.
He is fired with four years left
on a contract that pays him $1 million
a season.
Gailey and the Jackets went 7 and
5 this season.

their picks for the all-Conference
squads this afternoon.
The Hokies dominated on defense,
but didn't place a single player on the
first team Offensive Squad. On
defense, Chris Ellis, Xavier Adibi and
Macho Harrris all made the first team
all-ACC team.
They are joined on the defense by
Virginia's Chris Long, and the only UVA
or Tech player to make first team
offense was Brenden Albert - the big
offensive lineman from UVA.
The Hokies' Eddie Royal was named
the first team kick returner.

Saturday No one on either offense of
defense received more votes from the 73
members who voted than UVA's Chris Long
- who leads the ACC this season with 13
and a half quarterback sacks.
Long also had his jersey retired
Saturday in his final home game at UVA.

Carolina State is the Atlantic Coast
Conference women's basketball player of
the week The former William Fleming
star led N.C. State to a perfect 3-0
record last week,
plus a tournament title in Freeport,
Bahamas where she was named the
tournament's most valuable
player.
Whittington averaged 21 points a
game while shooting 23-for-35. She also
averaged 12 rebounds, two steals and a
block in the three games.

beat 29 rivals to become the island's
2008 Miss Universe contestant ...
despite applying makeup and wearing
evening gowns that had been coated with
pepper spray.
She was composed while appearing
before cameras and judges throughout
the competition ... but backstage ..
she had to strip off her clothes and
apply ice bags to her face and body ...
which swelled and broke out in hives
twice.
Someone also stole Rivera's bag
containing other gowns, makeup, and
credit cards.
The incident is now under
investigation.
