The Western Virginia Water
authority says an eight inch water main
broke, filling the street with water.
Cones are set up in one eastbound
lane, but traffic could still pass
through.
Crews are now working to fix the
leak and we're told the water should be
back on by morning.

middle of the night has taken the life
of one of the N-F-L's up and coming
stars.

the Sean Taylor house Tuesday to look
for clues in what has now become a
murder case.
Police did find signs of a
forced entry into the home, but they
don't know yet if it was from this
break-in or a recent burglary that

Taylor died at a Miami Hospital this

blood from a gunshot wound. Police say

Taylor s girlfriend called 9-1-1.. and
he was airlifted to the hospital.
Police say they don t have a
description of a suspect.. but are
investigating
whether the attack was related to a
break-in last week.

grown by leaps and bounds and that
concerns city leaders.

list of charges after police say he
crashed a car while showing off.
Timothy Wayne Spivey told police
he was showing off for his friends when
he crashed head on into a parked car on
Cedarbrook drive.
Spivey suffered minor injuries,
but three teen passengers were
seriously hurt -- one was ejected from
the car.
He's been charged with reckless
driving, driving on a suspended
license, altered tags, and driving
without insurance.

gotten approval from the state to drill
exploratory holes for uranium near
Chatham.
The drilling is expected to take
place next month in Pittsylvania
County, which is home to the largest
uranium deposit in the United
States.
Governor Tim Kaine has proposed
lifting the state ban on uranium
mining, to help Virginia become more
energy independent.

Center. The high temperature today in
Roanoke was 60 back at 1AM. The low is
the current temperature. The day
started off rather windy with gusts out
of the northwest to 30mph. A surface
high pressure will move overhead
tonight and bring light winds and
clearing skies. This will mean lows
will be at or below freezing to start
our Wednesday. As winds become
southerly, temperatures will remain
fairly seasonable over the next few
days, with highs reaching well into the
50s under partly to mostly sunny skies.
Lows will stay on the chilly side,
around 30 degrees. A weak front will
approach the area Thursday. With little
help from the Gulf of Mexico, rain
amounts will be light, and in some
cases, non-existent. A second,
stronger front will arrive Sunday,
bringing another chance of showers.
Long-term models (8 to 10 days) are
hinting at a colder pattern, and
perhaps the first winter-like system of

Falcons quarterback Michael Vick- he'll
go on trial in April for state dog
fighting charges.

Vick's lawyer, Lawrence Woodward,
requested a jury trial.
The suspended NFL star did not
attend the 5-minute hearing in Surry
County Circuit Court. Vick is being
held at a Northern Neck jail after
unexpectedly surrendering last week to
begin serving time for a federal
dogfighting conspiracy conviction.
Vick faces up to five years in
prison when he is sentenced December
10th in the federal case.
He also faces up to five years each
on the two state charges.

were stolen a few weeks ago, appear to
be popping up in other states.

rooms.
She was found by fishermen on an
island in Galveston Bay just about a
month ago.

The Cavs came into game 5 and 1,
while the Wildcats have been struggling
with just one win in their first four
games.

basketball team was home tonight taking
on Southern Conference member Wofford.
The Hokies shot just 41 percent,
but still managed to post a 75-to-60
win and improve to 5 and 1 on the
season.

battle the Terriers.
Freshman Andrea Barbour will lead
the fast break, leave all defenders
behind and lay it in for the two of her
18 points. She shot better tonight
hitting 7 of 12 from the field.
Wofford's Summer Nichols would
find Kate Dempsey inside for this
bucket off the glass, but the Terriers
only shot 37 percent for the game and
struggled to stay close.

one coast-to-coast on her own as she

Groh is on top of the world tonight.

a one year contract extension from his
bosses at UVA.
First the contract news -
Cavaliers' athletic director Craig
Littlepage calls the move "an
indication of confidence" in Groh and
the future.
Groh will now be under contract
through the 2011 season.
Groh also got 38 of 71 votes from
the Atlantic Coast Sports Media
Association to win the league's top
coaching honor.
Boston College's Jeff Jagodzinski
was second and frank Beamer third.
