at around 6:00 last night.

Freshman Jonathan David Jones, who was
from Fredricksburg, intentionally
jumped from the 7th floor study lounge
of Prichard Hall.
Virginia Tech rescue workers
found Jones in front of the building.
He was pronounced dead at
Montgomery Regional Hospital.

out of this shop in Colinsville earlier
this month.

investigators say one turned up in
Prince George's County, Maryland.
Police there recovered it after a
fight at a nightclub.

in from as far as South Carolina and

along Jefferson Street from the city

Plans call for the construction of

exploratory holes for uranium near
Chatham.
The drilling is expected to take
place next month in Pittsylvania

uranium deposit in the United

mining, to help Virginia become more
energy independent.

decorations at Virginia's Governor's
Mansion this year.
Eighty feet of handmade garland
and eight- cans of gold spray paint are
just some of the supplies 16-
volunteers used to deck the halls
yesterday.
Sheryl Hall and Christine Gray
recently graduated from the
horticulture program at Virginia
Western Community College and were
invited to help.
The women worked with pieces of
nature and accents of gold to help
create a wow- factor when folks enter
the mansion.

Center. As winds become southerly,
temperatures will remain fairly
seasonable over the next few days, with
highs reaching well into the 50s under
partly to mostly sunny skies. Lows will
stay on the chilly side, around 30
degrees. A weak front will approach
the area Thursday. With little help
from the Gulf of Mexico, rain amounts
will be light, and in some cases,
non-existent. A second, stronger
front will arrive Sunday, bringing
another chance of showers. Long-term
models (8 to 10 days) are hinting at a
colder pattern, and perhaps the first
winter-like system of the season.
