the landmark...

Tomorrow we'll learn more about a
plan to develop the hilltop -- plans
that include a restaruant.

Any development near the star is
subject to approval of the Fishburn
family, because J-B Fishburn donated
the land to the city.

The Mill Mountain Advisory
Committee is supposed to have some say
in it, too.

That committee met today, and
News 7's Keith Humphry was the only
reporter there.

artwork.

The college was looking into
selling artwork obtained with money
from the Louise Jordan Smith Trust.

Stefan Lessard says he's
grateful that he and his son are safe.

Understandably so..when you
see how big this fire was.

Both Lessard and his son
were at home near Charlottesville when
they heard a cracklin in the kitchen
and got out.

Investigators say the fire
probably started outside-- and it does
not appear suspicious.

The nearly one million dollar
home.. is a total loss.

Roanoke was 61 and the low was 33. A
cold front is exiting the Atlantic

coast tonight, with drier air moving in
behind it. While it is a cold front,
the air behind it won't be noticably
cooler. Winds will diminish and skies
clear tonight. Friday looks pleasant
with highs in the 50s. Friday night
calls for clear and cold weather with
lows once again returning to the low
30s. Sunshine is expected to stay with
us through Saturday with highs in the
low 50s. By Sunday, clouds gather and
will likely provide some rain showers
to the area by Sunday afternoon and

Tomorrow marks the end of the
2007 Atlantic Hurricane season. While
initial forecasts were a bit too high,
the season did produce some memorable
moments.

Meteorologist Brent Watts looks

the U.S. has escaped a severe hurricane
hit. But for Mexico, Central America
and the Caribbean, the season was
anything but quiet.

Forecasters had originally predicted 17
named storms, nine of them hurricanes.

As the season winds down, only 14
storms formed, six of them hurricanes.

The summer of 07 did produce some magic
moments.

Hurricanes Dean and Felix ramped up to
Category Five status, the highest on
the intensity scale.

The same hurricanes also made it into
the record books as the first two
Category Five storms to make landfall
in the same season.

Hurricane Humberto also caught
forecasters attention, becoming the
fastest developing storm on record to
be so close to land. It strengthened
from tropical depression to hurricane
in 14 hours just off the Texas coast.

While hurricane experts are puzzled by
the lack of storms this season, the
search for ways to improve forecast
marches on.

This is the Aerosonde. It's an unmanned
aircraft that is being tested at
Wallops Island, Virginia.

It's made to fly at low altitudes, but
long distances, soaring over over
3-thousand miles on a single tank of
gas.

The aerosonde got its test in hurricane
Noel, flying just over 300 feet above
the surface of the Atlantic. A place,
no manned-aircraft would dare go.>>

companies to cover them.
