possible accident involving a
pedestrian in Bedford County.

A man who appeared to be hit by a
car was found around 4:30 this morning
on Nemo Road off of Route 24 in the
Moneta area.

Police did not find a vehicle at
the scene.

We do not know the pedestrian's
condition.

of this home and flames came out of the
walls at 1101 Ferdinand....

A family of five lives here, but it
was a different KIND of family member
that had them fighting to go INSIDE...

Little boy on top of the roof telling
me about his dog in the house and i
told him he couldn't go in because of
the flames...on fire, fire coming
through the hall and stuff....

going in...His aunt tells us he
actually had the dog in his arms but it
jumped out and and the boy was overcome
by smoke. The dog died. Another family
member was hurt but nEIther were
seriously hurt.

A different scenario for a
firefighter...who had to be pulled out
shortly after crews went into the
house....leaving hours of uncertainty
for his fire brothers...

morning in Richmond.

What concerns Nova is the number of
cases that are unreported..because
people don't know they have it.

They're bracing for high winds
along Oregon's Coast this weekend.
Forecasters predict hurricane-force
winds as a storm moves into the state.

storm in Seaside, Oregon.

Some beautiful video here.

The waves were choppy but the sky
were still mostly clear yesterday.
That's not what the conditions will be
like over the weekend, however.
Forecasters say high winds will easily
knock out power to coastal customers.

Officials are warning people to
be prepared, but some local residents
say you don't know what the storm will
bring until it actually arrives.

Reno, Nevada got its first
significant snowfall of the season

Friday.

A cold front predicted not to
bring much rain or snow to northern
Nevada brought a good dose of the white
stuff to the area.

Some spots reported at least an
inch and a half of snow.

A highway north of Reno was shut
down due to the heavy snowfall and
multiple spinouts.

them...after News 7 reported...that
Lane Stadium in Blacksburg had one of

month.. most elevators are checked out

Isis elevators, are made by
ThyssenKrupp. The company says this
type of elevator saves space and energy
because it doesn't require a machine

room and runs on Kevlar ropes instead
of steel cables.

An elevator accident in this Seattle,
Washington Hospital prompted
Thyssenkrupp to order frequent
inspections and repairs.

The cables on that elevator snapped,
and the car fell until the emergency
brakes kicked in. No one was hurt.

Total Action Against Poverty, which
owns Dumas, bought the elevator-- so it
wouldn't have to add a room to the roof
of the historic building.

But TAP's maintenance engineer says
the elevator has been a headache since
it was installed a year ago.

used on game days... 8 or 9 days a
year.

The public does NOT have access, only
coaches and catering staff.

The Habitat for Humanity Store in
Roanoke also bought an Isis.

The elevator was installed two years
ago when the city's building inspectors
said the store had to convert one of
its freight elevators into a passenger
elevator.

Habitat for Humanity's Executive
Director says that elevator keeps
getting stuck.

ThyssenKrupp spokesman Stuart Prior
says the Habitat elevator's problem is
NOT cable related. He says quote,
"sometimes we have to work out some
bugs, which is very common with
elevators."

Habitat for Humanity points out the
elevator only travels between two
floors. And people can use the
stairs.

At the Dumas Center... the engineer
says he wants a new elevator as soon as
possible.

It would be built in a "hollow of
land"... between the lower overlook and
the visitor's center.

The structure would not be
"visible".... if you're looking up at
the mountain from the Valley below.

It is much smaller than Valley
Forward's earlier proposal.

The new concept is primarily a
restaurant with some public meeting
space.

It's no longer a lodge with
over-night accommodations.
